WotC WotC needs an Elon Musk

And yet, Novels and TV shows are not Tabletop gaming materials that can be used by pre-teens in a game of entertainment.

You could decide to include SA in chess too, if you really wanted to, but it does seem like that would be entirely pointless beyond just being "edgy"

Then why argue to include it in official WoTC materials? Because that is what the conversation is about. Not should anyone ever have the right to reference in any context, ever.

Feel free to find any of my quotes where I said to include it in game materials.

I was arguing against absolutes (shouldn't be in D&D period) and things like D&D novels.

D&D novels tend to be crap but some of the better ones are a bit more mature than the usual bilge that got served up.

I want to stress that I'm not looking for any sort of hard-and-fast rule; for that matter, I don't think that everything is permissible all the time. Rather, I think it's beneficial to have these sorts of discussions to examine what we think of as acceptable and what's not, especially in response to claims that certain things are obvious, intuitive, or virtuous/vile enough that they don't need further examination.

This is where I'm at. There are things which are that vile, I've noted them already, and will not under any circumstances engage with them as part of 'play'.

I am talking about the DMG. Why are we saying Planescape, which has never been published for 5e, is vital to the DMG?

What text boxes? There aren't any text boxes explaining the alternate cosmologies. And if having a default is so great, why not have the DMG set in Mystara? Or Eberron? Surely that would be even better, right?
I haven't mentioned planescape in my last couple of replies, dude, I've been talking about the default assumption in the DMG.

I also never said there were text boxes, jut that they could throw some of them in if they wanted to discuss things.

Eberron and mystara are fine, but the multiverse that is the default in the DMG doesn't use them so it doesn't use them.

Scale of stakes! Audience! Self control! Treating serious subjects with a modicum of care! Why is this a language no longer spoken by writers?!

Because being serious is no fun, dealing with everyday evils doesn't feel heroic, and if you make the villain nuanced then people are going to side with them

This is not true. PayPal was originally established by Max Levchin, Peter Thiel, and Luke Nosek in December 1998 as Confinity. The first version of what would later become the PayPal electronic payments system was launched in 1999. Musk did not come on the scene until March 2000 as part of Confinity's merger with xcon, a company that Musk was only one of many partners in. Musk was replaced as CEO of xcon in October of that same year. Musk wasn't even in the driver's seat when PayPal went public in 2002.

This is also not true. Tesla was founded in July 2003 by Martin Eberhard and Marc Tarpenning. Musk became the largest shareholder of Tesla in 2004. He literally bought his way into a position of control.
Ok thanks for the correction. He took control of Pay Pal and turned it into a billion dollar company. Then he took control of Tesla and turned it into the most valuable car company in the world.

This illustrates my point even better - based on History WOTC would not crash and burn if Musk took over.

Only if we stop looking at history around 2019.

Also, I wouldn't check my Tesla stock right now if I were you...
