WotC WotC needs an Elon Musk

One Choice is still singular. There is no contradiction here.

This is not part of the bare minimum. You do not need to know how to draw or design a map to worldbuild.

This could be useful... if you are building a medieval world. What if you aren't? Medieval Social Geography doesn't really apply to Athas or Eberron after all.

Governments and social strcutures? Sure, a list of those could be nice. Species distribution? Less certain that's really something needed. That could easily be handled under different social structures.

For Minimums? No. I'm not saying I've never done research on this, but you are basically saying "give me parts of a biology textbook, climatology textbook, astronomy textbook, agriculture textbook" I mean, you want specific tidal information just in case people go to the beach? This is all useful information, but it is far too comprehensive to be considered "the basics". This is advanced stuff.

You realize this is like... an entire book on its own, right? This is a full "how to write alternative histories" writing book. Inside of everything else? Again, this is WAAAAY beyond the minimums.

How, when you make this insane claim below.

Wut? How do you expect to build a proper world with a proper history without religion? You want to talk about the outer planes of the gods... without talking about the gods?

And you want it to be a completely different book than the world-building book?

I'm sorry to tell you Lanefan, but you don't want a book, or even two. You want a series of books, likely around five at a minimum. And that is insane for a beginner. The way the DMG handles it, even if not perfect, is leagues better than this idea.
Why would worldbuilding resources need to be aimed at beginners?

Now I am thinking about the path of Hasbro in the last years. Before it was a multinational selling toys and games, but later it also wants to be an entertaiment empire, a new Disney. I don't say this to be wrong, but I am surprised WotC has grown too much within the megacorporation.

If Hasbro has got some good source of information, then they should get ready for the possible troubles in 2023, and after to acquire the remains of the companies what hadn't survived the "storm".

And this is not only about economic, but also about "soft power" the cultural impact in the societies from diferent countries.

* Does Hasbro need a new Walt Disney?

So apparently Elon Musk was booed off the stage at a Dave Chapelle show on Monday.

"Video of the incident at Sunday’s Chappelle show captured by people in attendance shows the controversial Twitter owner taking the stage and yelling Chappelle’s famous Rick James impression: “I’m rich, b***h.” Afterward, Musk got loudly booed for several minutes."

I'll reiterate: no, Wizards of the Coast definitely doesn't need an Elon Musk. Even a refurbished one.

You might not like Musk but nothing at all in that history would suggest WOTC would "crash and burn" if he took over. That may be difficult for some to swallow but it is undeniably true.
The current slow-motion train wreck that is Twitter since he took over is plenty to suggest he would do something similar to WotC if he somehow got control of it (which is thankfully unlikely).

Why would worldbuilding resources need to be aimed at beginners?

Because if you are a veteran world-builder, you likely have found resources anyways. I mean, a product marketed only to veteran world-builders would be nice, but it wouldn't be a product with a lot of reach. Especially considering many of the things this supposedly covered are in cheaper and easier to get writing books.

Unless you are thinking that being a veteran player makes you an expert on world-building, or being a veteran DM who only has run modules makes you an expert on world-building. Which, if that is your thought process, I point you to the above discussions about Elon Musk, and how being good at one thing doesn't make you an expert on everything.

Upon further reflection, I think Musk would be more inclined to buy Games Workshop than WotC. He seems the kind to love Space Marines unironically.
GW already working on driving the game into the earth.

Fantastic models, but cost + 9th is doing the game no favors.

I don't accept that. By that argument, nothing should be made for veterans, because they could always find the information they need elsewhere.

New people aren't the only people who play this game.
