Because there are a lot of people who want to make their own world.
Sure, and some of those people are new players, and some of them aren't. Why can't we do both? Why does everything have to focus on the newbies? Do they just not want my money?

Well, if you've been playing for a long time, you likely already have all the stuff. So... they've already gotten your money.

Plus, even if it's aimed at newbies, there's likely still stuff that experienced players or worldbuilders can benefit from. Whereas if it's aimed at experienced players, then true newbies are left cold.

It's also reasonable to expect the majority of worldbuilding to be aimed at newer players/dms since they will will need the most initial help with additional content for experienced players. "Aimed at new players" is not the same as "cutting out experienced players".

My idea of a worldbuilding guide wouldn't differentiate between new players/DMs and veterans; it would ideally be equally informative to all.

Further, ideally it would be generic enough that non-D&D GMs could also find value in it, at least to some extent.

The Worldbuilder's Guide from 2e was an excellent resource, and didn't feel like it was expressly written for new players.

Edit: still is, actually. I used it when I built my current homebrew.

It's exactly because of existing products like that that a new product for world building should be aimed at new players. We experienced players have already been catered to long ago.

WotC needs an Elon Musk, I know I'll get dumped on for saying it, but when 50% roughly that the D&D studio works on gets tossed in the trash and the rest tends to be shades of poorly done when the D&D studio doesn't have adult supervision (freelancers Keith, Matt, or George for examples of adult supervision).

We should be getting products equal to the 5e Southland Kickstarter, instead we are getting setting products without the settings. This is absurd.

New visionary leadership is needed.

And as big as the problems with D&D are, the issues with MtG dwarf it with a major consumer revolt going on, and multiple WotC studios that have been around for years and yet have yet to produce any products at all.

Maybe this is finally the time for the activist investors to make their next more or at least close to that time because it appears they have been vindicated.

Part of WotC's problem is they are too focused on casuals, but it's the hardcore fans that create the buzz that draws in the casuals in the first place (this is shown by the Fandom survey/research that basically fandoms in 4 grades from the most hardcore fans to the most casual casuals). Their current approach is to alienate hardcore fans to court casuals, and that is a problem because it's the hardcore fans the build the foundation the gets you the casuals.

It's what made the MCU (and ignoring that truth is killing the MCU) for example.
Most people seem quite pleased with 5e from where I sit. Anyway, nobody needs an entitled jerk who thinks everyone else is stupid and he has all the answers. I mean, Elon Musk is pretty talented in his narrow niche, but frankly he's a fool who doesn't know where his strengths lie. He's great at process, but not so great at "where do I want to end up?" either. I mean "let's colonize Mars" it just ain't going to happen, not even close. Still, he built a great rocket!

Thats what makes this title thread a sick joke.
even if you do not like the direction Wizards has taken the game, DnD is bigger and making more money than ever before,
while this guy is literally burning cash every day, making a site that barely was profitable, even less profitable, and a worse overall experiences for everyone, and is also the saddest sack of crap alive.

If anything Twitter needs Wotc at this point(The DnD division because clearly the Magic side of things havent been good.)
