I dunno man. I avoid Paizo threads and forums. My point is that if all the engagement you can muster is to yuck another person's yum, maybe it's time to consider if engagement is really worth your time?

I guess I'll keep trying then, because I'm not going to just stop engaging with fellow D&D players. I really wish more people looked beyond WotC in this hobby, because they are far from the best content producers out there.

Right! Which is why I keep saying you need a separate mechanism to represent physical injury. The two systems play by different rules.

I've used the Wounds system provided by Studio Agate to represent physical injury. They're viscous, but do offer an interesting take on showing injuries in combat.

I will go read about @Oofta 's theories, even though I highly doubt I will be convinced. I never dismiss something out of hand without at least looking into it.

I don't think it's even that so much as it is an inappropriate willingness to accept mythology as fact (even if not as literal fact) rather than as the result of ancient people not knowing what mental illness was

Or even just assuming that ancient people were incapable of telling fictional stories, or never exaggerated or lied.

For the most part, its merits are not sufficient for me to spend money on it, unfortunately.

The 5e stuff also doesn't have to supersede the previous edition material that you might enjoy. Beyond a very brief couple OD&D games, 2e was also where I really got my start and the books published then are still a treasure trove of material to use in 5e games.
