Yes, they could. But they have not, which leaves people who want to know what they’re saying with no other recourse. As I said, we can certainly suggest they post these things elsewhere, but if Twitter is where the news is, Twitter is where one has to go to get the news.Those folks could post their news on blogs, facebook, Mastodon, etc. Twitter is not the only social media out there.
