City of Mist is a place from another time with superpowers offered up as a cool way to solve mysteries. Using tags, you make a character, define their powers through tags which are short descriptions, and tell your stories. This campaign adds new districts to the city along with one-shot cases and more. The 256-page book includes HârnWorld (58 pages), Hârndex (152 pages), Kethira (10 pages), Lythia (32 pages), and 4 pages on cities and towns, each a different entry full of detailed information. • REVIEW: Rob Wieland reviews the core rulebook for this RPG (here)
  • TRY BEFORE YOU BUY: Monster of the Week: Codex of Worlds Quickstart is free at DriveThruRPG
  • WHY SPOTLIGHT THIS CAMPAIGN? This is a rules sourcebook with plenty of pages to augment your game. How many? 416 pages of new team playbooks (to give your characters a unified theme and Moves), setting frameworks to set your stories in, and, most important, new, high stakes Moves. This is an expansion for Monster of the Week, an RPG with a setup like any supernatural TV show that features a new monster to defeat each episode. This book provides new rule options and more teams and locations to battle over. If you’re interested in checking out the RPG, the campaign page offers preview links for this project.
Alice is Missing- Silent Falls.jpg

Alice is Missing: Silent Falls from Hunters Books
  • END DATE: Wed, March 15 2023 2:59 AM EDT.
  • SYSTEM(S): Alice is Missing
  • PROJECT TYPE: Sourcebook
  • MOST POPULAR PLEDGE: $20 + S/H for the PDF and print versions of the expansion
  • WHY SPOTLIGHT THIS CAMPAIGN? An award-winning RPG that is active development at Paramount+, Alice is Missing is an achievement in tabletop. This silent game is played using physical content and text messaging. This expansion adds to the core mystery with new cards offering locations, characters, suspects, searches, cluse, and relationships. This option gives more direction, culprits, and endings to this 90 minute RPG including new 10 minute cards. If you’re interested in a text message based RPG about finding Alice, who is missing, this is worth checking out.

DEEP DARK- An underground TTRPG micro-zine.jpg

DEEP DARK: An underground TTRPG micro-zine from Gallant Knight Games
  • END DATE: March 14, 2023 3:59 AM
  • SYSTEM(S): An original system
  • PROJECT TYPE: RPG zine
  • MOST POPULAR PLEDGE: $10 + S/H + an optional Crowdfundr processing fee ($1.53 in this case after S/H charges) for the PDF and print versions of the book
  • WHY SPOTLIGHT THIS CAMPAIGN? This project is an original RPG about dwarves and goblins finding ways to exist together in the underground. From jump, the premise is unique, which is aces in my book. The engine is based on options from Knave and Tunnel Goons, keeping the engine minimal yet offering rune magic and goblin chaos magi. Offered as a 30-page zine, this is worth checking out for rules-lite OSR fans.

Porcelain Souls.jpg

Porcelain Souls from Penny for a Tale
  • END DATE: Mar 15, 2023 3:59 AM
  • CROWDFUNDING ON: Crowdfundr
  • SYSTEM(S): An original system
  • PROJECT TYPE: Core rulebook
  • MOST POPULAR PLEDGE: $15 + S/H + an optional Crowdfundr processing fee ($1.53 in this case) for the PDF and print versions of the quickstart
  • WHY SPOTLIGHT THIS CAMPAIGN? This horror RPG is something different, you play as human essence trapped in a doll’s body. Moving across the carcass of the world, you’ll encounter original horrors in this dead world. From the team behind Necrobiotic and using a similar system, this card-based RPG makes you a doll-like being in a post-apocalyptic world. Inspired by the movie 9 and the stop-motion works of the Quay Brothers, this project is a different take on terror: trapped as a doll after everything you knew has ended.
Hopefinder Roleplaying Game.jpg

Hopefinder Roleplaying Game from Minotaur Games
  • END DATE: Wed, March 15 2023 11:00 PM EDT.
  • SYSTEM(S): Pathfinder Second Edition
  • PROJECT TYPE: Core rulebook
  • MOST POPULAR PLEDGE: $35 + S/H for the PDF and print versions of both books
  • WHY SPOTLIGHT THIS CAMPAIGN? Jason Bulmahn, the creator of the Pathfinder RPG, is making a PF2e variant that takes place in the modern day during a zombie apocalypse. Mechanically, there’s some serious additions to this version of PF2e as it goes classless and works through flashbacks. Offered as a 64-page and a 52-page set of booklets, you’ll get rules for making characters, developing their story, combat, and more. With AMC and Free League’s The Walking Dead RPG coming this year, 2023 is showing some early signs of a zombie resurgence. If you’re looking for zombies using the PF2e engine, this is your best option.

Raven - A Gothic Horror Roleplaying Game TTRPG.jpg

Raven - A Gothic Horror Roleplaying Game TTRPG from Shadowlands Games
  • END DATE: Thu, March 16 2023 9:57 AM EDT.
  • SYSTEM(S): Maelstrom system
  • PROJECT TYPE: Core rulebook
  • MOST POPULAR PLEDGE: €24 for the PDF version of the book
  • WHY SPOTLIGHT THIS CAMPAIGN? Edgar Allan Poe directly influenced this project. Set in the “ancient aristocratic city of Raven” which resembles 19th-century North America, this RPG is about conspiracies, ghosts, mysteries, and worse. All classic Poe territory. If the idea of playing in a dark world inspired by Poe’s works speaks to you, there’s a free preview linked on the campaign page.

R’lyehwatch RPG.jpg

R’lyehwatch RPG from Hedgemaze Press
  • END DATE: Thu, March 16 2023 11:00 PM EDT.
  • SYSTEM(S): An original system
  • PROJECT TYPE: RPG zine
  • MOST POPULAR PLEDGE: $15 (free shipping) for the PDF and print versions of the book
  • WHY SPOTLIGHT THIS CAMPAIGN? Baywatch Nights meets the Cthulhu Mythos in an RPG zine! It’s an original RPG and a zine and so much more. It’s the perfect mesh of ideas: The Hoff meets Hastur! It’s a golden combination, like the sun setting over the beach heralding the rise of the Great Old Ones. If you’re a fan of lifeguards and Mythos, two genres that go great together, this RPG is waiting for you.

ART!

Deluxe Unhuman
I would like to get into Harn, but man, their stuff is so expensive!
Ditto.

R’lyehwatch sounds almost too fun to pass up. Raven is very tempting: Poe + "New Nation"/Expansion U.S. + alternate history - this just yells "BUY!!!" at me. Porcelain Souls is the kind of thing that seems intriguing but that I'll probably have to not buy for money and time reasons. Deep Dark is such a small investment and an easy sell for our group that I'll probably back it. Classless, modern-day Pathfinder is an interesting concept, so I'll be thinking about HopeFinder.

Old School!
Can't wait for more Alice is Missing! Absolutely loved playing it but it has admittedly been sitting dormant for a while. Looking forward to the new cards.
