Just because your favorite setting has a metaplot, it doesn't mean that all are doomed to have them (and be ruined by them). A key part of Eberron is that the timeline never officially advances, so it can never have an official metaplot.

You can't have a multiverse with a metaplot if the story doesn't affect every setting. Eberron may very well have to change to fit into WotC's grand plan.

There are already multiversal conections with Eberron. V is mentioned in other books and I wouldn’t be surprised if she appears in planescape. None of that affected Eberron’s metaplot

Oh yeah totally. More than likely get the Greyhawk, Mystara, etc treatment. Simply forgotten. Or maybe a new adventure with 6 pages of lore once an edition.

I just need them to allow dm guild production and player options up to date to the new edition. All my books from previous editions are still prefectly useful for lore.
