You can consider them not canon for your table, sure. If the netaplot's in the books though, its just as "real" as any of the 2e stuff.
That’s not what I’m saying. In Eberron, the only thing considered canon is the lore information in the setting books. Nothing else is canon or advances the metaplot. It has always been the case and I don’t see why any change to thhte multiverse would need to change that

Is this something Baker has stated? I could believe it.

I don't think the D&D team is really going to do a metaplot at all, lol.
Eh, they might. They did earlier in the edition (the Second Sundering for the transition from 4e to 5e, Storm King's Thunder takes place after Tyranny of Dragons, Tomb of Annihilation had giants from Storm King's Thunder in Chult searching for the Ring of Winter). There's also been the obelisks/monoliths in a ton of the adventures that seem to be building to something Vecna-related. And the new "edition" and big world-hopping adventure seem to have more potential for one last metaplot advancement. Especially since the last Vecna-related adventure from the end of an edition advanced the metaplot a lot.

Connecting hooks aren't really a metaplot: once 5E got going, there is no advancement or canonical result to the Adventures. Which is what happened in the 80's & 90's: all the published Adventures were given official resolutions in canon. Thar I don't see happening.
