Mando season 3

Visually I got PT vibes from it.

City looked great very Sci fi.

Exposition at the start also revealed a bit about current state of the Galaxy. That's why I didn't mind the Coruscant episode as I want to now what state the galaxy is in.

Her previous episode was also pretty strong - the one which introduced Bo Katan.
She also directed the season 1 episode where Din defends the village from the raiders (and almost settles down with that widowed mother). I loved the visuals in that episode, like how the AT-ST looked like a monster with glowing red eyes.

And she directed the Return of the Mandalorian episode of Boba Fett, which frankly should have been the first episode of season 3.

Episode 6 is the first episode (of season 3) which seems to have understood what Mandalorians should be like.

Overall, it was very good.

Watching Djin and Bo in action further highlights why the "Mandalorians" in earlier episodes seemed so far off the mark.

Speaking of Bo-Katan leading... One other thing I thought of. The darksaber only "counts" if you win it in combat.

Din was defeated by that spider-creature on Mandalore. Bo took the darksaber from the spider-creature and killed it, rescuing Din.

Bo is now the rightful owner of the darksaber, by creed.
So I just got to watch tonight's episode. I'm thrilled to say the least!

love his "what the hell am i hearg/seeing" face

"You had me at battle droids" awww

Those cameos!

Somebody poisoned the watering hole!
That was cool showing the droids actually not minding their life of labor and not wanting to be replaced. I noticed that when she turned the dark saber on, she didn't get pulled down by the weight or anything. Also this episode ran on loopholes and technicalities lol

Rewatched it tonight when my wife watched it. She liked it spotted an extra cameo I missed. She knew who Lizzo was I got Sasha Banks.

Male mon Cal voice didn't do it. Droid interesting subversion (humans fear AI replacement) Jack Black a bit immersion breaking (miscast?).

Otherwise fun.

The Mandalorian is certainly a bold show. We have a formulaic quest show - before you can do this you need to complete this complexly random sidequest [Fighter: You had me with "we get to kill stuff"], along with a genre pastiche. A format we have seen before on this show. But a couple of weeks ago we had a random episode from The Prisoner. I'm not sure it does the viewing figures any favours, I feel a lot of people like to know what they are going to get from a TV show.

As for world building, are we setting up a sort of Separatist Alliance here, in competition to the New Republic? So that post Episode IX, we have a galaxy where the separatists WON?!

Think it's just more worldbuilding.

There were throwback to Seperatists in Rebels and old and new EU.

I’m even more convinced now that the cultists were deliberately portrayed as incompetent in order to make Bo-Katan look better.

If they had been shown to be just as competent as any other Mandalorian force, then Bo’s leadership qualities wouldn’t have stood out as much.

(Yes, I’m sure better writing could have managed to make Bo stand out as a leader even among other competent warriors.)

Now I am keen to see how the two factions of Mandalorians reconcile. They’ve both got their foibles and prejudices.

The darksaber didn’t seem all that important to the cult, but it’s of the utmost importance to the mainstream Mandalorians. Conversely, I feel like the cult would find Bo’s sighting of a mythosaur more important than the mainstreamers.

It’s also interesting to note that the two factions define “Mandalorian” differently. For the mainstreamers, it’s genetics. For the cultists, it’s following the Way and not taking your helmet off.
