Mando season 3

Scouting with no idea what you are going to run into, and no way to call for support or extraction is not sensible. If you have no alternative then use expendable probes. I expect Plazir-15 has some ex-imperial probe droids to sell.
Mmm. For all that Din hates droids, he was sensible enough to know he needed one for his initial scouting of the planet, when he didn't know if the atmosphere was breathable or not.

And yet it happens all the time in sci-fi settings, and in most such instances can't be overcome by any readily-available means. Deriding one particular group for not being able to get around it seems overly judgemental.
In most situations, it's time sensitive. I'm sure that given an unlimited amount of time there is no interference Spock could not find a work-round for.
Droids don't know what to look for, the Mandalorians themselves have the expertise needed to both locate and assess the Forge.
Imperial probe droids managed to find the secret rebel base, no reason they couldn't have located any potential hostile forces on Mandalore. The point is not to enter the forge, the point is to make sure it is safe to do so. And if they failed to return, it would give away the presence of hostile forces.
The phenomenon is planet-wide, otherwise someone would have noticed otherwise. And again, they had no reason to believe it to be artificial - only further investigation, such as finding a hidden Imperial base, would have even suggested such a conclusion.
It's easy enough to tell the difference between a natural and artificial phenomenon if you take the time to study it. And if it's artificial, there must be an emitter, or multiple emitters, located on the planet's surface. It can't be the whole planet. And any localised emitters could be triangulated from orbit.

You keep mentioning unlimited time, but Din and Bo-Katan already got attacked once by TIE Interceptors just going between Mandalore and its closest moon. This is not a region in which they can just hang out indefinitely with impunity. They brought a whole fleet for a reason.

They're not just looking for hostile forces, they're looking for the Forge. And unlike a rebel base the forge is unpowered, and just one among many ruined structures on or below the surface. You don't use probe droids for that, you use people who are familiar with the territory.
The point is not to enter the forge, the point is to make sure it is safe to do so. And if they failed to return, it would give away the presence of hostile forces.
The point was to enter the Forge, to determine whether it was sufficiently intact to be worth establishing as a base of operations. That requires expertise to determine, not droids.

Why would they believe it was artificial? We don't even know if it's artificial at this point. There are massive storms in the atmosphere, and there's massive interference preventing communication. Why suspect it to be something else entirely?

And the interference itself will hamper getting easy readings on any source if it is artificial.

It's regular? It covers all communications bands?

All the more reason to proceed with caution. And the best place to be if attacked by hostile ships is in space. Last place you want to be is on the ground.
They're not just looking for hostile forces
First you make sure the area is secure. Then you can proceed with your mission objective. Basic military practice.

Things change when you go from "party of adventurers" to "military operation".

Sounds like something someone would have noticed a long time ago.

Yeah, but the place you tend to find hostile ships is also in space. They had no reason to suspect an entire ground-based base, and any ships coming in from space wouldn't detect the landing party, because of all the interference.

And you're deflecting. The point stands that this is a time-sensitive mission.

They already went down to the surface, in roughly the same area, when Din went to visit the mines. There wasn't anything more sophisticated than some morlocks and a hermit droid.

Only if they had taken the time to make accurate measurements at a range of different locations.

Non-hyperdrive capable tie fighters in the system without a capital ship gives every reason to suspect a ground based base. And even allowing that Din and Bo-katan are too dim to work that one out, they have no idea what may be on the planet's surface, based on a brief expedition to a single location. With a military expedition, you do not go in blind. You assume the presence of hostiles until proven otherwise. And if the manadorians had believed the surface to be safe, they would not have sent their leader and best warriors on a simple recon.

Basically, mandalorians are like klingons (see Star Trek III). They charge in recklessly, hoping they do run into trouble so they can prove how badass they are.

This is true, but any hostile ships "just passing through" would need to be dealt with sooner or later if the planet is to be reclaimed, and anyway, if you are in space and faced with a strong hostile force you can run away.

Really, no. Not even close. They could (and should) have spent years on Nevarro planning and preparing.

But the mandalorians would have got bored and wandered off. Because that is the way.

Coming through a small hole one at a time into a kill zone is a good way to get everyone killed.

A strategic withdrawal was the correct tactical decision in those circumstances.
Sure, but multiple mandalorians SHOOTING through a small hole at a bunch of guys with no cover is a good way to get the imperials killed. ;)

Nah. Multiple mandalorians SHOOTING through a small hole at a bunch of guys with no cover is a good way to get the imperials killed, though. ;)
Which is great if they can reach every part of the larger area, without risk, which they wouldn't be able to do. And it all comes crashing down when someone lobs a grenade into that confined space.

Good luck getting a grenade through a small(few foot) hole while being shot at. It's not like they could run up to that hole without being shot multiple times. As for reach everyone, armored hands with guns can fit through it just fine if some of them dodge out of the area that was reachable. The way it was set up, almost all of the imperials would have started in the field of fire. Plus an armed Din was inside encased fully in beskar. He'd have been able to fight as well, taking out the grenade attempts. The imperials would have been toast if she had cut a hole there.

Edit: Plus, before they could even recover to the point of formulating the grenade strategy, Bo could have moved left and right, cutting new holes for even more mandalorians to shoot through, covering an even wider area with blaster fire at the imperials.
