Why even a post about JC explaining the reason behind playtest material got degradate into endless debate of CMD.

I noticed he said class's unique spells shouldn't be cross class comparing. But I believe that no matter what class those spell belong to, they should be stronger than spells in general list so players have reason to cast them instead of those optimal choose. I only see that in those wizard spells. Most sorcerer uniques spell don't spark joys when readed, white room analysised, and playtested. They just bad, and it got worse when tied bad spells to subclass feature so to be benefited from subclass feature player have to cast those lackluster spells.

And he said dragon wing is a lower level feature, but in both 2014 and playtest it is a Lv. 14 feature. I think he don't even remember what version of inner material they have made public.

I think this is more likely. Short Rests aren't bad. They are just not right for primary mechanic recharges.
It could be.

But only if all classes had a good reason to short rest.
I like the idea of the Half spellcasting alongside possible Mystic Arcanum, alongside Pact Magic being merged into the Subclass' Pact Spells.
IMO.

Core warlock get Mystic Arcanum level 1 to 9. With the option to use invocation to get more.

And your subclass can give you specific spells you can cast at will. (Like burning hands).

In any case, if that's true, just let fighters combine attacks into a big whammy or an AOE.
Combining multiple attacks into one is a good idea.

When you take the Attack action, you can forgo your second attack. If you do, you gain advantage on your first attack and deal double the damage.

Possibly as the great weapon master feat?

Here is what Pathfinder 2 does for it's "half" casters.
Though their 9th level spells aren't as potent as 5e.

Oh, gotcha. My mistake.
No worries, I'm still trying to get my head around the idea, I think I would need to see the chart laid out tofully grok it. But it could combine what I like about the flexibility of the half-caster approach while allowing the Warlock to be the big flashy caster.

A simpler way to do this is spell points.

The table is roughly equivalent to:

spell points = caster level x 1.7

It is an awkward number. I would try to find a way to use a simpler number.

If the spell points refresh with a Short Rest, then, "spell points = caster level + 1", works excellently.

But if the spell points refresh with a Long Rest, whence a larger spell point pool, then maybe, "spell points = caster level x 1.5" might work. It would be nice to simply say, "spell points = caster level x 2" and call it a day.
