They're going to be the first million dollar RPG Kickstarter in a long time.KP tried running Paizo's Playbook when it wasn't going to be applicable.
No Shadowdark was a million dollar (1.3 actually) Kickstarter 2 months ago. They're going to be the first million dollar RPG Kickstarter in a long time.
I actually like the idea, but the implementation to achieve backward compatibility was clunky and probably wouldn't work. If they had done this from the get-go in 2014 it might have worked, but now, not so much. It's not likely since they were treating it as a given the whole time, but I hope the unified spell lists go away.
The implementation was lazy and clunky to the point that it required multiple classes to get weird tack-ons to keep doing their do. I don't feel anyone was really on board with doing it and they were just ordered from on high to 'streamline' that.
Ok. Second in what was a long gap.No Shadowdark was a million dollar (1.3 actually) Kickstarter 2 months ago.
There was one this year and a bunch last year. They're going to be the first million dollar RPG Kickstarter in a long time.
The supposed errors of Kobold have cemented them as the strongest near term offshoot of 5e.
There was such a long pause that Morrus wrote about it.There was one this year and a bunch last year.
I don't think the gap is as large as you think. As others have said there was more than 1 last year (I haven't verified that) as well and LevelUp almost reached that mark 2 years ago (and they are much smaller publisher). However,..Ok. Second in what was a long gap.
...that doesn't really matter. I think getting 10x your funding goal should always be considered a successful Kickstarter. However, the real question of success will come in the long run, not from the kickstarter.I don't think their overwhelming success is a demonstration of failure
If by RPG KS you mean their own sysyem, then Shadowdark. If adventures etc count too, then we had some last year as well, eg the MCDM monster book at 2MThey're going to be the first million dollar RPG Kickstarter in a long time.
they are the first out the gates / on KS. Will be interesting to see how C7 fares with theirs, or even Shadow of the Weird WizardThe supposed errors of Kobold have cemented them as the strongest near term offshoot of 5e.
