D&D (2024) Playtest Packet 6: They knocked Druid out of the Park

I mean the 2024 list would focus on statblocks that are actually useful for Wildshape and Familiar, and not many, just enough to function as solid defaults. Players who want more custom Beasts can and should go shopping!
And maybe a Paladin's steed or other horses/donkeys/warpigs you can buy at the county fair?

After playtesting this Druid with some buddies, I will say that I think the base class needs more than 3 prepared forms. I would go at least 5 to begin. Then work all the way up to 10. (Maybe PB plus WIS?)

Can someone who enjoys analysing that sort of thing tell me if you can, in this playtest, make the ULTIMATE WEREBEAR with a Barbarian/Druid multiclass, and would you be able to Rage in Bear form? What levels would things come online at, done right?

Class features work.
So you can get good AC with unarmored defense (though your Con and Dex change) or medium armor
The resistance will stack with the THP nicely.
You still keep the barb HP while in wild shape.
Reckless attack should work, if you can convince your DM that the beast is attacking with Str (i.e. no cats)

But the rage damage bonus requires a weapon or unarmed.
And you need 2 bonus actions. One to transform. One to rage.

Oh. If you take beast barbarian (fitting), you can get claws that count as a "weapon". Solves any accuracy problems too.

The highest bear is CR2. So that needs a druid 6. And has 20 Str for the beast barb weapons.

When you get beast barb 14, you want to rage first, go though that THP. Then transform to get the druid THP.
Or just druid 7 for a bit more damage.

Should moon druids should be immune to their own moonbeam?

No. Moonbeam is small enough you are usually going to be able to avoid being in it, and if they were immune then you are tempting them to be a huge creature pinning a smaller creature in the moonbeam, unable to escape.

You can be shoved into it.

And you have disadvantage on the save.
And will be kicked out of wild shape.

Though turning into a crocodile and holding enemies in it sounds like a good idea.

It seems highly unlikely the druid will be shoved into their own moonbeam. I don't think I've ever heard of that happening.
