D&D General Baldur's Gate 3 will now be releasing August 3rd on PC and September 6th on PS5, increased level cap, race & class details and more

To me, high level play is the ability, and even the need, to travel far and fast. And sometimes near simultaneously. And being proactive about it too.

That is a very personal definition, though. It doesn't follow that "they can't do high level content unless the map is bigger." You really mean "they can't do MY IDEA of high-level content unless the map is bigger."

I don't see them doing a stand-alone high-level sequel product, for the same reason WotC doesn't do adventures like that. I hope they do a sequel, but if they do it'll start at level 1.

I can't find any source that says that tbh. The game goes to level 12. A comprehensive play-through of the EA content with the level cap removed gets you to level 7. Even assuming that you don't do every last thing, it's hard to see how you don't hit level 7 by the end of Act 1, considering we don't even have all of Act 1.

There are a lot of points about BG3 that are repeated so often by fans, particularly in the subreddit, that folks have begun to take them as facts. There is other weird stuff along those lines, like repeating over and over that "EA has the evil-aligned companions" despite the fact that alignment clearly doesn't exist in BG3.
Yeah, I can't find the quote I thought I read either. They do indicate that time to finish the entire game will range from 70 to 200 hours depending on your play style (my play style is definitely weighted towards that 200 number...). Also, they have said it is three acts a while ago.

Btw Swen mentioned depending on your choices in the game, you can visit Chult, he wanted his own Jurassic Park in the game 🤣🥳.

I don't think its a seperate act or anything like that, more like you can take a short trip through a portal and visit a small portion of Chult, like the area around Fort Balduran, before going back to BG or where ever you starting point is. There is a shot of a room with portals that could be where you go to visit other places in tje realms like Chult or the Unapproachable East for a taste, without making a major commitment. Also if Chapter 3 is set at Candlekeep, they could draw inspiration from Candlekeep Mysteries allowing the magical books transport you back and forth between Candlekeep and different destination in FR and other plane and worlds.

They keep repeating it because Larian straight up said they were the more evil & neutral companions, originally the game was going to have heavy alignment system, but that got nixxed by WotC.

And when talking about Karlach he mention that you now have the full spectum between evil and good for companions.

Anyways it appears that the other possible origins found early on were that Tiefling archmage from Candlekeep with interest in infernal puzzle boxes, a red wizard, thekid (the child of Abdel), and Jacc Devir (who I sespect was the same as the kid, but named).

And alot folks made a big deal about Helia, but there wasn't that much as folks think, and it changed majorily before disappearing entirely. Helia was originally a Gnome Druid and head of the Grove before being replaced by Halsin as druid. Then she was a Halfling Bard Werewolf, then she was gone. Oddly she also had the human tag. Her head was borrowed from another character even. That's basically it. No major commitment.

That I think makes either Alfira, Delina, or a completely new character more likely. Or that Drow fighting the Mindflayer in the collector edition could be Devir and Abdel's half drow son, but I think that would bother some older fans who still refer to the protag of the OG games as Char_Gen still.

No, the will probably be several DLC which increase the level cap gradually, but a hypothetical BG4 will reset to level 1 (and use the OneD&D rules), not "import your saved 12th level character".

How do you folks think Planar Ally spell will work?

I figure either its just a temp summoning spell like the Conjure spells, but with its own list.

Or its like Find Familiar, but more powerful, again with its own list of creatures.

Or it lets you recruit stuff like a Cambion or Deva into your party as a party member.

Or its a way to summon a Debtor Hireling, basically summoning damned soul to serve as a mercanary in your party.

I think they are even concidering convertimg moduals like Undermountain to DLCs.
Terrible, terrible idea, hope they don't do that.

The Undermountain represents everything that BG3 isn't - i.e. a huge-ass dungeon where most things exist effectively as "islands", disconnected from everywhere else.

If they do more DLC in future, I sincerely hope they stick to what they're good at, which is creating interesting, interconnected scenarios and characters with strong underlying stories to them, not just combat/trap/puzzle-heavy dungeon crawl trash.
