D&D (2024) Class spell lists and pact magic are back!

they have had several years of being told how that is the trap that their boneheaded 70% metric
You're implying widespread agreement among the survey base that the 70% metric is a bad one.

That's the point where you cross from "In my opinion it's bad" to "there is widespread agreement with my opinion."

I don't think there is widespread agreement with your view. I'd like to see where you have ever demonstrated widespread agreement with your view on this. I see a LOT of people disagreeing with you. They're not necessarily representative either, but I surely have not seen some huge parade of people agreeing with you either. So where is that comment coming from?

No that's a different thing, clearly in this case we are talking about an entirely indefensible thing for you to switch to the topic of if there is "widespread agreement". It doesn't matter if there is "widespread agreement" about a thing for that thing to have been an issue raised for several years.

Of course it does. If they get feedback from 100 units of people, and 99.9 units of people like X and 0.1 unit of people do not like X, it's not worth noting that "the issue was raised for several years that some do not like X." It's a very clear implication that your personal objection that you have raised to WOTC for years was a "meaningful" objection to them in such numbers that it would be unreasonable to ignore it or view it as not representative. Otherwise why would you mention it or phrase it like you did as a "trap" and "boneheaded"?

So I ask again, what makes you think your view has been raised with WOTC by a meaningful number of people to make it a noteworthy view by WOTC?

Just to clarify, the scale isn't "70% or bust". It's this:

Generally, solid.

However, I would prefer 49% (!) or lower to "Remove or [from the] ground up redesign".

Meanwhile 50% (!) - 69% would be "Salvageable but redesign as needed".

70%-79% as "What were looking for, possibly tweak", is fine.

I expect the indy publishers to help meet the gaming needs of those who are failed by this majority process. I expect WotC to make it easier for players to find and use indy content for 2024.

Mod Note:
Folks, keep the interpersonal aggression down to a minimum, please.

If you don't like what WotC does, being a jerk to someone here doesn't fix that.
If you like what WotC does, being a jerk to someone here doesn't support WotC's choice.

If you can't be respectful, please walk away. Thanks.

I have a vague recollection many years ago - and I am not confident it really is just vague - that at some point one of the Devs said some percentage of fans will give full approval to anything WOTC puts out in a UA and so they needed to increase the scale to compensate for those "sure I'm good with anything" people.
