D&D General BG3 Massive Spoiler Thread

Respeccing doesn't break any personal quests right? I've been meaning to respec Shadowheart into Light Cleric, and I might as well optimise everyone while I'm at it.

Then again, I have like 500 gold due to having a massive spellbook addiction, so I might pick and choose who I respec...
Personal quests are separate from your class, even where they're thematically associated with it. The only thing it can mess with is if you're talking via that character, they will obviously no longer get the dialogue options they previously had if they're a different class. But generally you're not!

Hmm. I'd keep everyone's primary class anyway (I'll probably go the Assassin/Gloomstalker/Fighter route for Astarion, and I would've done that earlier had I known), so that seems fine. Time to turn Shadowheart into... Lightheart?

I didn't take up the option to have Jaheira join my party, and yeah, she died like a chump not five minutes later. I'd have liked it if the game would've allowed a Revivify scroll to work on her, but ultimately, I just remember her as being this impossible-to-please always-knows-better-than-the-PC character in BG1 (particularly the way that, as a neutral character, she'd complain and leave the party if you became too good or too evil) that I didn't feel it much of a loss.

I really had no intention of using Jaheira much in my party despite fond memories of BG1 & BG2. TBH, my feeling was that the tie-ins to the earlier games were among the least interesting aspects of this game, and on the whole I'd prefer a completely new story.

However, Jaheira in Baldur's Gate 3 is an excellent character; she's a lot more interesting here than in either of the old games. And as a companion, she adds a LOT to the experience of Act 3. And the nostalgia elements ended up being done just right imo. She's become a mainstay in the party for Act 3 for me.

I quite enjoyed her writing in the small portion I saw so far. But I'm not happy with her stats and equipment for the moment is all.

Well, after stalling out at the start of Act 3 due to performance issues (hoping an upgrade will help there), I started a second playthrough which is now progressing towards being my main playthrough, and is already into the early part of Act 2. So I'll give Jaheira more of a chance this time, and see how she fares.

Mine as well. But mostly because of what she offers. A ton of versatility between spells and wildshaping.

Once you get to level 10 or so, her whole deal in combat (even as a Land Druid) is basically wild shape & the best summoned creatures in the game with once in a while a thorn whip or a heal, so her weird stats & equipment don't end up mattering very much.

Is the familiar spell worth taking and is it always a frog

Is the frog outside the hags house her familiar and are these small animals worth talking 2 with a spell?
