That would probably backfire at my table.
"...and if you don't like it, you can leave! This is my game, and I'll run it the way that I....hey, where's everybody going?"
Careful vetting of prospects has kept my having to invoke that sort of thing to very rare. And now gaming on line, the volume of players is so great, its even easier.

We solve 90% of future problems during Session Zero, and another 9% over email after each game. Communication and honesty really are the key here, but (gestures over to That Other Thread) I guess some people don't do that? for some reason?

Calling some of them Narrator Rotation Games instead of RPGs would be a net win for just about everyone but the moderators. Making some threads much happier, spawning a whole new batch of them where the dividing line was fought over with even more venom and vitriol, and giving the bloggers and authors an excuse to crank out revisionings of past works and theories.

I think the issue with Man of Steel is not the execution but the objective of the film.

Snyder wanted to take Superman into a gritter and darker direction. While the plot does at least a decent job of pushing Superman in that tone; the very concept of a grim Superman leaves a sour taste in many mouths.

If you want to crazy with Superman, make a movie based off the "Superman Smashes the Clan" radio play/graphic novel. That'll turn heads.

Yeah, as with most of the failings of the DCEU, the problems start with the executive office. The people who said "you know, the Dark Knight trilogy worked really well -- we need a dark and gritty Superman!" are the one who are the real problem.

Even if this was meant as sarcasm, I actually agree. A huge hurdle is people’s inability to see something they like and enjoy and not slapping the wrong label on it. “I like RPGs. I like this. Therefore this is an RPG” is not how this should work. Cries of gatekeeping whenever the topic of what is and is not an RPG also do not help.

I don't mind people using bigger terms for things. It's when having a more specific term might be better that it should be used. I'm good with bird lovers calling birds dinosaurs. If I start saying the best dinosaurs are the little crested ones in my living room (unless those extinct oversized things you wouldn't keep in a house), maybe birds is more useful?*

* An obvious exception is stuffed pizza, where proclaiming it the best pizza (instead of a casserole) is proper. *

** Wait, what thread am I in!?!?

At my wedding, I danced with my mom to this song. Seemed appropriate, since it's been my unofficial theme song for my whole life.

I defy you to find a better, more poignant song about growing up.

Dragons live forever, but not so little boys.
Painted wings and giants' rings make way for other toys.
One gray night it happened: Jackie Paper came no more
and Puff that mighty dragon, ceased his mighty roar.

Seriously though, besides being a jerk who neglects his friends, Jackie Paper has no game.

Grows up past being a little kid, and not even once thinks of taking a girl (or guy) that he's trying to impress to hang out with dragons and noble kings and princes in Honah Lee?
