Yup. Have to sneak past, obscure their vision, run etc.

My suggestion, you stealth or invis one or more people (take potions/scrolls) as you need to get down to the ground floor and go in the back door. You can eventuelly turn them off…. If you have a certain item. And that certain items makes it harder to infiltrate. That tower is a pain…
You don't even need to do that. Grab some sussur blooms from the big tree on the west end of the Underdark map, run up someone who has decent hit points, and drop a bloom next to each turret. Their anti-magic shuts them down immediately.

Anyone done any mod work yet? I've got a few things I want to implement but I've been strapped to a computer working for 7 days now and havent had time to dig into it and remind myself what I learned during the EA. :D

Can someone explain how "sturdy" works, specifically as it relates to arcane turrets. I think it is telling me I basically to overcome DR 10 to hurt it?
If you use examine and mouse over the property, it tells you what the damage threshold is (NB, this is a real rule in the DMG).

Looking at Minsc stats online, what is this 12 STR nonsense? 18 Str, heck almost 19. I may have to “fix” him over at Withers.

And maybe just make him a Barbarian anyways.

Since I'm playing as Karlach, I speced Minsc as an archer, but barbarian or fighter does feel like a better fit for what Minsc actually does. He should still be able to summon Boo anyway.

He always felt more like. Barbarian (by way of Fighter) since BG1.

I honestly can’t think of any reason for him to be a Ranger. I know the comic explain it as “I like animals” or something.

As for Karlach, make her a Ranger with a bear companion named Clive (like her Teddy). She doesn’t seem like much of a Barbarian anyways.

BG1 is kind of "he was a regular ranger until his head wound". But 2nd edition rangers are less distinct from fighters anyway. As for Karlach, she is my character, and I am happy as a wildheart barbarian.

The big thing is him having an Animal Companion. He was also a ranger kit that was capable of berserker rages, but the kit never made it into BG1. So they just gave him a custom rage power.

But yeah, if Barbarians could have Animal Companions, that would probably be a better fit.

He gets Boo “for free” in BG3 though right? So he can be a Barb?

I’ve remade Karlach as a dexterous Ranger with a bear companion. Favored enemy being demons devils etc to keep her backstory intact.
