Those examples started with campaign settings that reintroduced the material to the new audience, including making some changes. That's the way these things are and always have been updated for new editions.
You have already acknowledged that there is in fact more information in the new set that the original set (in the form of the number of gate towns described). And it is demonstrable that the word count in the 5E set will be noticeably higher. But you have rejected these as not good enough. In that light it is hard to have sympathy for your complaint.
I understand and share your frustration with the publication schedule. Even if they follow up this set it won't be for years. It's like waiting for a new Elder Scrolls. But I think you should consider being happy they are doing Planescape at all -- which was never a given considering how poorly it sold originally-- or, failing that, just shrugging it off as not for you.
And if you want more PS, it's going to come from DMsGuild. That's just a fact.
