Kulan: Knightfall's Heroes of Carnell Game [IC]

"Maur! Duck!" Quinn yells out to the dwarf champion as they stand back to back. He whips his chain over his head and then whirls it again in a vicious circle.

Maur slumps his head and shoulders down low enough for the gladiator-knight to swing the spiked chain at all four of the undead creatures. He hits the undead trog in the doorway first then brings it around to hit the other two trogs, and then, finally, the ghoul trying to hide behind the open door.

Quinn is surprised he hit the third trog. They don't seem to move as fast as the ghouls.

"The trogs are slower, Maur," Quinn says to the dwarf. "Easier to hit."

The ghoul in between Maur and the wall suddenly jumps over the dwarf's champion's head. It is frightfully elegant. The creature almost floats through the air.

After it lands, it rushes towards Caerth and claws the half-orc druid on the chest.

Litrix looked in wonder at the creature leaping and only too late realized he can do something about it. He charged as soon as the ghoul landed. But he miscalculated his move, teleport leaving him somewhat disoriented. On his second step, he tripped and fell, sliding on his scaly skin toward the undead. At the last moment, he pushed up so not to end up prone next to it. However, his attack was ruined and he was still open to attack.

Charge vs vicious ghoul: 1d20+16+2+2 = [1]+16+2+2 = 21 - -2 AC for the turn
Ref save: 1d20+12 = [11]+12 = 23 it's terrible when your save is higher than your attack and you're a warrior

Maur thinks for a moment about healing...but he's still under threat. Healing may be an option, but it would need to be a quick one. And he doesn't have one available right now. And it is not in his nature to leave the battle or leave his comrades surrounded.

Instead, he takes a deep breath and uses his connection to the art of war to pull some divine luck into himself. As a champion, he can call on Moradin's grace, but each battle incorporates a bit of luck and Maurs powers in that domain enable him to turn that luck to combat prowess.

Calmed and centered, his hammer almost leaps on the enemies in front of him.
"What Moradins hamer built, it can unbuild!"
First to go down is the trog that bit him through the armor, one-two-three swings, each breaking more and more bones under the undead flesh. Dwarven hymn, the chant of toil, of battle, of the bravery of the dwarven people bursts out of the champion drunk on divine power, pain forgotten, risk irrelevant, only the battle matters.

Near the other group, glowing spiritual representation of Moradins hammer swings at the vicious ghoul. But without direct attention of Maur it is ineffective.

OOC: if I can drop both trogs threatning me, next spell is Insignia of healing which should heal everyone around
Swift: cast Divine favor instead of Animate rope from domain slot (get +3 luck bonus to hit and damage)

Attack first the trog to the right of Maur, if it falls, diagonal one.

Phar moved behind Cearth, still flying high and cast a spell. Five glowing darts shot out from his hands at the ghoul and any Trogs that survived Maur's onslaught.

Magic Missile: 5D4+5 = [4, 3, 4, 4, 1]+5 = 21

Edit: If Maur fails to drop one or both Trogs and one or both of them is hanging by a thread, I will, instead, fire a few of those missiles at them to finish them off and have the rest hit the ghoul.

Before the ghoul can counter, Angus moves next to Litrix and Caerth and brings his blade down against the ghoul and cuts a deep gash in its shoulder.

"Chew on m'steel, cretin!" Angus yells.

The undead creature remains standing.

It only takes two swings for the dwarven champion to break the undead trog into multiple pieces with his hammer. There is very little left. Maur swings again at the other trog and hits it with a heavy blow, but it doesn't fall. But, it won't take much.

Phar moved behind Cearth, still flying high and cast a spell. Five glowing darts shot out from his hands at the ghoul and any Trogs that survived Maur's onslaught.
It takes five of the magical force missiles to take down the last ghoul. The final glowing dart does only a bit of damage to the trog next to Maur. It is not enough to put it down.

The ghastly trog senses an opportunity against Maur and claws and bites at the dwarf champion again. It rakes Maur's chest with two more deep wounds, but its bite snaps against empty air. Maur stumbles and gasps for air. His hymn stops mid verse, and he falls to the floor of the Temple of Bogphin.

The undead trog howls in delight.

"Maur!" Quinn yells.

"No, no, no, no, no!" Aureus exclaims.

Quinn cannot help the dwarven champion until he finishes off the two reaming trogs. The one in the doorway claws and bites at him. The gladiator-knight manages to block the undead creature's claws but the creature bites him again and tries to grapple Quinn to the ground.

Aureus steadies her nerves and breathes. She needs to hit this time. She takes aim through the columns and the bodies in front of her and shoots. She misses. She fires again and again. The second shot was all that was need. The arrow thumps the undead creature right in the head, and it falls backwards away from Maur.

She sighs in relief.

Caerth rushes to Maur's side and says a prayer to Bogphin. normally, he would just beseech nature itself, but here, in this place, it was appropriate. The magical healing flows into the unconscious dwarven champion... his friend. Maur opens his eyes and looks up to see Caerth kneeling over him.

"No dying today, my friend," Caerth says gruffly but with a hint of a smile.

"Quinn, take out that last one!" Aureus shouts. "I'm out of arrows!"

Being grappled by the undead troglodyte brings back hours of training to the gladiator knight as he squirms to get away from its odiforously repugnant grip.

Quinn' spiked chain has seen a variety of opponents, but none more disgusting then an undead troglodyte. The normal bell-like thing of the links klinking together in a unified song. But not this time. This battle the links were clogged with putrid flesh that stank not only of itself, but of the rotted smell of fish.

His determination is solid as he moves the weapon in deadly loops around each creature of chaos and darkness, chewing large chunks off each one while his fellow champions finish off each creature .. .. .. until there was one. One deadly pass chewed into the unnatural creature . It stumbles under the onslaught creating a misjudgment of Quinn s second pass, but the third loop puts the creature back to its final rest!
