REAL unpopular opinion time: there is no caster/non-caster gap. It isn't a problem.

Its there its just a highly variable table problem. Its an emergent problem that hinges on what parts of the game are being utilized and to what degree.

And even then, theres a clear underlying culture problem thats exacerbating it as well; ie, most people basically admitting their caster players are gigantic egomaniacs who hog the spotlight even when they don't have to.

Another unpopopinion. All the problems people say are because of cell phones will still be there even if cell phones vanished from the timeline.

I don't know if that's true, but I think they do reveal core issues that cause the probelms -- issues that would remain even if cell phones disappeared. Or, more bluntly: you are boing your players and cell phones disappearing won't fix that.

Have cell phones (in conjunction with other things) changed attention spans? (Or is that a myth).

In any case, there is certainly more out there to compete for eyeballs and time - even if it is just the ability to Google up where things are happening.

Unpopular opinion #1: just because something is not a problem for you doesn't mean it's not a problem.

Unpopular opinion #2: boredom is not the only reason people have their cell phones out at the table.
