He'll flip ya...Flip ya for real...
There was zero character development. Why even go get all those people just to not even learn about them?
Im guessing you will learn more in the second film about them, but am also almost certain my assumption is incorrect.

A lot of folks are missing all the stuff that was 'inspired' by 40k (as in Warhammer 40,000), which in turn had 'borrowed' a lot from other sources, just like most of the IPs this movie was 'inspired' by... Which I kinda find ironic. ;)

Is it a great movie? No! But it was interesting, like the little engine that could... Not... Most of it was fine, I can even stand a lot of the stuff that folks here found horrendous. But there was often something jarring and I can't really put my finger on it what it was. I'm certainly not watching the movie again to figure it out, but I'll watch part #2.

Some parts really gave me a feel of Lexx, a kind of 'clean', but disturbing vibe.

I suspect that if someone ever compiles a list of all the 'inspiration' source, a lot of us will go "Oh... Yeah! That tracks.".
I would guess that it's the sheer number of shots that are lifted (inspired seems to wishy-washy a term) from other films? For example the one that was essentially copied from two bookend scenes in "Thor: Ragnarok." All that was missing, was "The Immigrant Song."

Zack Snyder on his R-Rated Rebel Moon Director's Cut: "It’s not an ‘extended cut’ of this movie. It’s almost like a different movie."

God I hope so.
His whole business model is now built around marketing to his army. So everything has to have the Snydercut version planned. Probably multiple versions. It's not about making good art, or pleasing critics or even reaching a popular audience, it's about pleasing those guys with their very specific tastes. Essentially, he is making stuff for his whales.

Started watching Rebel oon. Had to restart it and I'm not watching the first 10-minutes again because I got bored and distracted and walked away. I forgot I was watching a movie. Is... Is this how the rest of the movie is going to be?

So I watched rebel Moon. It has some pretty imagery. The fight scenes are fun. The story is a mess. The characters are unispiring. Everyone seems to just join up with very little resistance or reason.

Kora: But have you ever thought of revenge?
General Titus: Nope, never. I'm in.

The villains also seemed pretty inept. They were looking for every one of these characters, who were just laying about and were easily found by Kora and a farmer. General titus alone was supposed to be some genius tactician being sought by the the villains, and he was just drunk and sleeping on a street. How bad are the bad guys at finding people?

Also, why does Admiral Atticus wear a tie?
