How many RPG dice do you own?

I played with a person who absolutely would not roll multiple dice at once. They were also really bad at basic arithmetic. It was hell.
But rolling dice is like half the fun of the dang game. I'm bad at math too... So sometimes I don't even bothering looking at the dice. Roll em for fun and make up the numbers for speed and efficiency.

::roll:: 6
::roll:: that's a 3. So 10. Wait, 9.
::roll:: 1. 11.
etc...

Well... you could do that in Paranoia and still be a valid roll!

I'm almost the opposite, I love dice pool systems and don't play Gumshoe games because you only roll 1d6 for actions.

That kind of advice just leads to more piles of dice! And at what size (and material) do these things become deadly weapons? I've got a couple of metal dice that are already unsafe to use, a glass table shatters and anything wood just gets dented... Not to mention, don't leave them around angry players/DMs!
I don't get the fascination with metal dice. I mean, I have several, but I much prefer my grapefruit sized d20 made out of foam. You can chuck it at players who make really bad puns (and not get arrested).

Some.

Another 1,000 fill a large glass skull on a display shelf.

WHAT...Is...that...Traveller box???
That's my smaller Traveller dice box, yes.

Back when one of the first Bundles of Holding came out with Traveller goodies, Marc Miller was sending out a Traveller die to each of the first 100 purchasers. Since mine was international, shipping was going to be more than the die by a significant margin, so he sent a Traveller dice sampler box instead.

I later bought his full sized Traveller dice box that has 10 black dice, one white, one red, one yellow.

I'm not sure what worries me more.

That you have so many, or you provided a precise figure.
Would you like a breakdown by color or number of sides? Blue is the most common color (518 dice*), and six is the most common number of sides (1,083 dice*).

Yes, I am a statistician. Yes, I am a bit obsessive. Yes, I have a spreadsheet.

*Edit: These numbers are only for standard polyhedrals. The weird dice are on another tab of the spreadsheet.

I'm surprised that more people haven't confessed to "Not Enough". I do see that we have a number of Dice-aholic Anonymous members though. {Waves} "Hi all! I'm GuardianLurker, and I don't have enough dice! (Even though I solely play on VTTs now.)"
