They seem to be using worksheets as a DM tool in the DMG, so I think that the sample Adventures will be presented as examples of what a DM filled out series of worksheets would look like.
I hope it's a bit more than that, but if it's that, then I hope that they do a bang-up job with however those worksheets work.

Interesting if modern sensitivities were their reason for renaming the "Barbarian" regions, when the updated core rules still contain a "Barbarian" class. Maybe they just prefer naming locations on the map for nations rather than groups of people? (Might also explain the Scarlet Brotherhood rename as well.)
I assume so. To refer to an entire ethnicity as "bandits" is identical to referring to a reallife ethnicity as if all "thieves".

I hope 2024 avoids this obvious problem.

I kept telling them in feedback that the Barbarian Class really should be renamed. Maybe in 2034.

The Bandit Kingdoms are not really bandits per se or on an ethnic level, that area is a highly militarized failed state where petty warlords fight each other constantly but are strong enough to collectively repel any outsider. So it's not a land of people who steal a lot, it's a chaotic and violent political situation.

Basically the Iron Age.

I am somewhat agnostic on this one.

I completely agree that they were correct in renaming actual countries to remove barbarian.

On the other hand, barbarian as a fantasy term and a general term is well-entrenched, and as long as it doesn't refer to the entirety of the people, I don't see an issue with it.

It's kind of like Druid. Or Paladin.

In other words, I would not be adverse to it changing, but I'm not particularly adverse to having it stay the same.

Note- I am, of course, always open to changing my mind on this if there is something I am unaware of or missing.

For some reference, here are a few locations from the map of Blackmoor by Arneson, overlaying the 2024 Greyhawk map. Note the towns Blackmoor, Maus, and Bramwood, plus the lair of the Egg of Coot. Most of the inland area between the three towns is the Elven Forest.
