Ahh, this is where the overly pedantic portion of the discussion comes in.

I listed problems with the episode, but, sure, I'll do it again:

1. They never actually CHECK on the person they came to find. Sol has no idea if the wookiee (did he have a name?) is alive or dead or hurt.

They are jedi. They can sense if another jedi is alive or not.

There are edits, especially a long one at the start of the episode. The fighting was all around the hut, probably in it as well.

Sol's priority was to protect the living, not linger about checking the hut for phat loot.

2. Dark Helmet drops out of the sky at the exact place where the tracker, who should be absolutely nowhere near, just happens to be and picks up the droid head.

This all happens within a couple of hundred yards or so. Giant bugs aren't going to carry lunch all that far. The tracker was no doubt using his stealth expertise to track everything that happens. I'm sure he checked out Kelnacca's hut whilst the fight was going on too. That's his job, and he is good at it.

Also, this is still Star Wars, droids have plot armour of invulnerability. See Attack of the Clones for example.

3. Sol leaves the corpse of his PADAWAN on the ground and just walks away.

Frankly, that's ridiculous. You really think he was going to try an lung a pile of corpses back through the extremely dangerous forest to his ship (which we know is about a day's journey when not lugging corpses about)?! The living are his priority*, it's too late to do anything for the dead. Attachment isn't allowed for jedi anyway.

*Reporting to the jedi council is also a higher priority than corpse recovery.

And, sorry, but, you don't get to pretend stuff happens just because you want it to happen. If it doesn't happen on screen, it didn't happen. They have no idea that the person they came to meet is dead or not. And Sol just leaves.

Fleeing makes a lot of sense. You just got owned by Dark Helmet.

Getting owned would have happened anyway. Sol's plan A was to sacrifice himself and Jecki to give Yord and Osha a chance to flee. When Osha an Yord messed that up (forgetting the no attachments rule) plan B was to flee whist Qimir was distracted by the giant bugs.

But even if Osha and Yord hadn't come back Qimir would probably have killed Sol then come after Osha and Yord and killed them too. Sometimes there are no good choices. They all lead to getting owned.

No, he does not. For a start he is a jedi and would be able to sense his death, and for another, why would you assume that someone who can take out eight jedi knights couldn't deal with a few giant bugs?

Not to mention, depleted as they were, even the forest's natural predators could be a threat - all that fresh meat is bound to attract scavengers.

If it doesn't happen on screen, it didn't happen.

And this is why you fail. Stuff does not have to be shown on screen for it to happen. Otherwise we would be regularly watching the characters taking a poop.

Yup. I really enjoyed this episode. Had a couple of potentially silly things in it but see what happens.

It's a recurring problem on how to portray them. Jedi Knight or higher you really need a Sith or Dark Jedi to challenge them without resorting to McGuffins/kryptonite.

True, but we can assume that they were more than a match for regular people and wild animals. First level character vs commoner/fire beetle. High level character beats them easily, beats giant bugs easily. (we know KotOR was a big influence on this and it has RPG tropes to show for it. Characters implicitly get low on hp).

One thing about the High Republic era - there are thousands of jedi. That means the order must be much less selective in recruitment, so a fair few are not particularly good at being jedi. That is why they are using uniforms and standard issue sabres to maintain the peace, rather than actual Force power.
