newbies guide for Fallout 4

You picked the two worst endings storyline wise. Morality wise one is kinda good, one is kinda flawed and two evil ones (vs Nuka world Evil).
I’ve read this entire thread, and as I’ve played through the game, I can’t say I agree.

Minutemen is the best since it’s all about helping people and rebuilding civilization.

Railroad is good because they’re helping the synths escape and live their own lives. No, they’re not perfect. But their hearts are in the right place. And the whole memory wipe thing is entirely voluntary and seems justifiable to help the synths escape the Institute.

The Institute is too “ends justify the means” for my taste. I have no desire to see them win.

As for the BOS, they’re always jerks to me every time I encounter them, so there’s no way I’m going to help them either.

I will kill all the raiders in Nuka-World, and then maybe I’ll go to Far Harbor next if the main story still doesn’t seem to be going anywhere.

I'm talking about story not morality. You also haven't seen the endings.

BOS has the best content and you can kinda role-playing the institute as something different.

3/4 are morally compromised to some extent. The 4th is sparse. Common complaint about FO4 is the story. Mechanically it's the best one that's not an online game.

BG3 playing evil is underwhelming, FO4 the good ending is underwhelming.

My first playthrough was BoS inadvertently picked the best one.

Couldn't do Minutemen when I tried due to game bugs breaking it so had to do Institute iirc.

I won’t know if it’s underwhelming if I never do the other endings. I just couldn’t join in with the BOS after the first quest. Their attitude really gets my hackles up. I’d rather side with the Institute than the BOS.

Don’t really care about who has the best content or whether I get to play through all the content. Don’t have that kind of time.

I also never play evil ever.

Fair enough. I normally go goid then evil. Usually with a small E though.

Only did one evil playthrough on BG3. Wife refused to do it. Closest she got was occasional evil act if the reward was really good and the NPC sufficiently annoying.

Nuka World big criticism is that relative lack of choice. The good ending essentially skips the DLC and the evil one is underwhelming even if you do it.

My hybrid gane (evil small E turn on raiders later) is still eh.

FO: Vegas is to old for me to enjoy it so FH wins the FO gold star for me. It's the Rebels of Disney erm Bethesda Fallout.

I don't play for the story anyway this far in. 7 years can't complain though I still break it out for personal challenges or silly runs.

Yeah, I tried New Vegas first but couldn’t get into it. I think it was partly the aged look of the graphics and such but it also didn’t really feel much like the show, since you’re not playing a vault dweller.

It certainly is annoying that, no matter how many times I tell Gage I don't want to be the overboss, he (and therefore the game) won't take no for an answer.

Very common criticism of NW.

And the show really was a follow up to FO4 spiritually in looks etc. It nailed the looks and feel imho. Great Vault dweller as well she's awesome. And the Ghoul he's great as an actor seen Justified?

I have not.

Z1-14 told me to keep working with Father. I’m up to the part where Father has asked me to record a message, but I don’t want to do that. The Railroad is just giving me radiant quests (like this courser in Nuka-World). Haven’t had a Minuteman quest in a while. I only have two settlements left to get (Croup and Warwick). BOS are enemies.
Until you decide to turn on father no other faction quest lines beyond the institute are going to move forward. You'll either need to do the speech or turn on father by attacking him or other institute personal which will then end the Railroad quest line. Once you do the speech then the main story will go on.

Damn. Well, I guess I won't be finishing the main story then because I flatly refuse to record that message - especially after Shaun told me it was an order. Like, who does he think he is ordering his own mother around?!

Also, I like the concept of the Nuka-World theme park but yeah, now that I've murdered all the raiders, it feels kinda empty. I found and killed the courser, too, and now I'm just sort of wandering around. I found some things called "star cores" but I don't really know what they're for. I also don't know where the power plant is in order to turn the power back on. It would be cool if I could claim the park as a Minuteman settlement.

Also, why the hell did the game wait until I was in Nuka-World to ask me to defend two settlements at the same time?! It's never asked me to do that while I'm actually in the Commonwealth!

Nuka World has 1 settlement in it. You can kinda get it up and running.

If you follow the story and map it's not to gatd. That's the one you don't want to do;).
The star cores are for the "best" armor in the game.

I've already killed all the raiders and freed the slaves. It seems like it's not possible to make the freed traders part of my growing Minuteman empire, which is disappointing.

I'm gonna hurry through exploring the theme parks and then go to Far Harbor.
