D&D (2024) Ranger 2024 is a bigger joke than Ranger 2014:

It is peculiar, IMO, because - as far as I can tell, it first appeared in SR2 and was only used for rangers.

I would recommend the Level Up ranger, built for a game that does have an emphasis on wilderness exploration.

I’m not into wilderness exploration myself. I live in London, I’m defeated by hay fever.

Ignoring rangers as irrelevant is my preference.

We haven’t seen the final version of the Hunter’s Mark spell. I’m holding hope that it has scaling like the damaging cantrips use. 5 ranger levels two dice, 11 ranger levels three dice. It also could help incentivize sticking with the class and minimize multiclass dips.

So that capstone changes all dice to d10s. That now feels much more of a capstone.

Then hunter’s mark eliminates using a bonus action to designate a new target when the current target drops to 0 hp. This would help with the traffic jam competing for bonus actions.

Maybe Monday’s video on Spells will lift the veil on the spell?

I don’t mind the “exploration features” being removed. To me, skill checks and some spells are all you need.

That's an interesting idea, but the text they've used in the preview article doesn't seem to support it. Let's see if they talk about it in Monday's video.
