D&D (2024) I just got a 2024 PHB From Gen Con. AMA!

What is the rule for the grabbed condition. Is it a general rule to escape with athletics or acrobatics?
The entry for the Grappled condition doesn't specify a general method of escape, but
under the Grappling entry, the rule specifies using either Athletics or Acrobatics to escape.

@DavyGreenwind following up on this, does the skill section (or perhaps exploration or social encounters) call out that the DM may ask for a check based on what the player describes their character as doing, even if they didn't take one of the explicit actions called out? Or conversely, does the Actions section mention anything about DMs calling for ability checks based on other things that the PC might do?

What I'm trying to get at is, does the PHB make it clear that if you as a player say "I want to sneak past the guards" that the DM may ask for a Dexterity (Stealth) check and will have set a DC for how difficult that is to acomplish.
I believe so. See this screenshot:

There are actually a lot of examples of play in those first chapters that illustrate skills pretty well. A little fun fact: all the examples are taken from Curse of Strahd!
It sounds goofy to some I am
Sure but I was hoping for examples of skills use and different options for adjudication.

I hate to say I have been too concrete maybe but stealth and investigate have been a little lackluster for me…and group check I hope I am using well…

Having read the new PHB, I am inclined to agree. I get the sense that the starting chapter about rules is just enough to orient a beginning player, but there is a ton of "The DM will know what to do..." baked in. There are even a few parts where it says "See the DMG for more info about X..."
I'm cool with that, but hopefully the DMG is really easy to navigate and find answers.

Does the wording of Weapon Mastery allow to combine it with weapon cantrips like the Booming Blade, the Green-Flame Blade or the new True Strike?
Yes, they should work together fine. True strike specifies that you attack with a weapon, and the masteries specify when you hit with a weapon attack (or make a weapon attack for some)
