That's probably the excuse the movies uses, but it seems kind of silly to launch a survey drone and then not save the drone data to the computer you're lugging around alongside the survey drone. Those characters shouldn't need to rely on wifi to access a map file they created themselves.

Then again, these are the same guys who are exposing their faces to alien lifeforms, so at least they're being consistently useless.

I'm convinced the Alien franchise takes place in a future where ubiquitous VR entertainment has desensitized the average human to any sort of danger or mystery. Everyone reacts to their environment as if it was a computer simulation with no long-term physical consequences.

Giant alien corpse with a hole in its chest? Worth a look for a minute or two. Facehugger shoving a tube down someone's throat? No need for a med scan if it goes away on its own. Weird snake monster swimming in goo? Let's take a closer look so we can appreciate the graphics.

Having rewatched Prometheus recently, for most of the time the two women are running, there appear to be rock obstructions or rifts that keep them running where they are. But you have to be looking for it. I suspect there were alternate shots that made that more clear that weren't used in the final cut, making them look stupider than they needed to.

Everyone but Space Stringer Bell being excited to take off their helmets on an alien world and put their faces next to alien snakes can't be explained that way, though. My head canon is that these were all reckless contractors specifically hired by Weyland because they wouldn't ask too many relevant questions that might prevent him meeting an Engineer.

I can't remember where I read it, but the people who went on this voyage were actually stupid.

It's not a mistake. They were idiots who were castigated by the scientific community already. They were not respected and the ideas they were putting forth were universally mocked.

However, the Big Boss of the business was VERY interested in immortality, or at least not dying yet, and so, no matter how long a shot it was, as this may be the ONLY shot, was willing to take it.

It meant though, that he wasn't getting the top of the field to go, it was more like the bottom of the bottom.

That they were bumbling fools was actually the point, and that they made such large mistakes was to be expected.

The only character or individual there that was really supposed to be up to par was David, from what I remember of what they wrote.

Even Shaw (though turning up to be more capable then expected) was not supposed to be all that great.

It's like sending a bunch of miners on a scientific expedition. The point of the expedition wasn't science (first movie) but to get the alien life form (which the android was the one who was supposed to do it, at ANY EXPENSE).

In this (Prometheus) one, it was to get immortality if possible...at ANY expense. The others didn't matter (and in fact, the longer it took them to catch on or know the better). With David, as long as the Boss survived, it would be expected (once again) that the android could handle anything else that should be needed.

because old Ridley try to explain and expand it too much,especiall those religious shits————that Prometheus is a very bad move.

As Lovecraft said, the greatest horror in the universe is the Unknown. You don't need to explain too much about the story of the alien and Xenomorph, especially -- you don't need to give a clear official explanation, especially too anthropocentric naughty word.
the universe is full of countless unexplained secrets and unknowns, and the Xenomorph is one of them. You can give a lot of vague guesses, but you don't need (AND BETTER NOT) give a clear official setting. These terrible monsters are mysterious cosmic horror that humans cannot understand, so the best way is ————imply not try to explain it at all.

This is why the new Alien: Romulus is actually pretty good,and better than Prometheus.

I don't remember it well, but my memory/impression was not that they were the people best qualified for the job, but they were just the people willing to do it. They all seemed second-rate hires. I'd have to rewatch it though.

I think even if they were second-rate hires, there's a certain self-preservation instinct that would kick in that I don't think the movie showed. Again, it just kind of struck me as slasher movie character behavior than what I expected out of Prometheus.
