WotC Greg Tito On Leaving WotC: 'It feels good to do something that doesn't just line the pockets of *****'

We reported earlier that WotC's communications director Greg Tito had left his 9-year stint managing the Dungeons & Dragons brand for a political appointment as Deputy Director of External Affairs for the Washington secretary of state's office.

In a surprising turn of events, Tito criticized his former employers, saying "It feels good to do something that doesn't just line the pockets of a**holes." He later went on to clarify "Sorry. I meant "shareholders".

Tito is now Deputy Director of External Affairs for the Washington Secretary of State office in Olympia, WA.

None of whom appear to be in an industry that Tito works for, for the record.

They could also be raging about his lack of a commercial truck drivers license, for all it matters. (Not at all.)
You are probably right. But it does look like he is going into something different. And social media has a long memory.

I don’t have “sympathy” for WOTC/Hasbro and am not rooting for them. But if it’s a discussion about what happened, cannot see how insulting people with money in general or the general population of stock owners is ever going to benefit the former employee.

He probably/might have some real grievance we don’t know about. But the way he slammed the door and shook his fist at non-company people takes away from his credibility.

Someone saying “it does not matter in the gaming industry” or other countries isn’t persuasive to me.

If for years he is smoothing over for the brand and is covering for WOTC I guess there could be an egregious straw that broke the camels back. Otherwise he went along with and supported their BS a long time and suddenly saw the light?

Maybe something new /big happened. If so it would make more strategic sense to act like he did 🤷‍♂️

Could just be that he had an opportunity to take a job with the government, one that doesn't include being the focus of ire for a lot of overzealous gamers who were shooting the messenger. That kind of role could be extremely stressful for some people.

Or not. We just don't know. I also don't really care much one way or another, it's his life and his choice. I just don't think it was a good idea.

I would not want to put up with the customers. But of course I would thank folks for nine years of employment and make the move. Unnecessary…

He didn't say his issue was with the customers. He said his issue was lining of the pickets of his a*hole *bosses.
