D&D (2024) Are we going to see DMG previews?

I'm not sure how WotC can answer that. They put out a ton of preview content? Right.

You knew about it but your customers didn't? Is that not a you problem?
No. Because I'm not speaking about customers who had been in the store in any recent times. Also, this is all exaggerated as I had tons of pre-orders. I'm just speaking about some of the comments I have heard, along the lines of "Oh, there isca new book?" ETC.

My point wasn't that WotC had failed (I think they did fine with the PHB) but that I was hoping that they would also promote the DMG. It looks like they probably will, and I'm just jumping the gun.

It wasn't a big concern, just something I thought would be interesting to discuss.

it was the first book out, I assume people realize that there will be a DMG and MM as well but who knows, maybe you can surprise them a second and even third time.

Worst case it is a slow ramp up again and you are not sold out in a week ;)
18 days! I started selling them Sep 3!

Yes??

I think there will be some previews. I'm not certain it will be different in style than what the PHB had, so the same problems with outreach that you saw with the PHB may also be seen with the DMG.

I'm in the UK and haven't seen the book yet; I'm aware people had it 6 weeks ago. Also Beth, our official D&D reviewer, was explicitly refused a copy (but luckily Rob Weiland picked one up at Gen Con so we were able to publish a review). The buzz is over now though, so I'll probably pick a copy up at some point out of curiosity, but I've missed the conversation and the enthusiasm has waned.
Wow, they refused Beth Rimmels a review copy, but they sent a preview to DnD Shorts? What a weird choice.

I know, but I do not see being sold out in 2-3 weeks as low sales, obviously no idea what kind of sales you were expecting but to me that sounds pretty good.

The one week was for the DMG with people now being aware of it coming rather than being surprised to see it when walking into your store.

Maybe they also were not aware that FLGS get the book two weeks earlier than the ‘official’ release date and they were surprised by that

The PHB was a “want” that gets you into the door and into WotCs ecosystem. The DMG is “required” by at least one player, so there’s less need to advertise for it - someone in the group has to buy it.
I'm afraid that's simply untrue. Short of providing magic items (which many published adventures provide separately, if you use them at all), the DMG is just not a necessary purchase to play any version of official D&D (except 1e, when it had needed rules like the attack matrices). Some are more useful to an individual and/or better regarded in general than others, but none are required. I have participated in many a session where the DMG isn't even brought to the table, let alone cracked open.
