And yet they're still asking folks to drop $150 to buy their core books again.

Didn't you know, Tasha's Cereal Bowl of Variant Rules comes out next year. And that's another $50. So it's actually $200 for the same functionality. And we still won't get meaningful guidance on how to play nice in a group.

I really do like 5e, I swear. I'm just sassy tonight.


you might want to pressure pacing, or not, depending on tension-building

The fact they, finally, address the basics of pacing makes me very happy. This is part of the game that even seasoned DMs often struggle with. And it desperately needed attention.

I like the base 5e ruleset just fine. Just not the current official expression of it.

I have been critical of the 2024 changes. I dislike much of what they are doing. I adore the underlying system though. The math is incredibly elegant and a lot of talented publishers are using it to great effect.
