D&D (2024) Kobold Press posts 2024 DMG Hit Piece

WotC: $1.5 billion (2023)
Kobold Press: $4.8 million (2023; estimated)
Come back here and I'll bite your knees toes off!

I don't know what "sea-liony" means but I'll accept my wrongness if i am in fact wrong.
Sealioning. Generally means to be persistently and annoyingly inquisitive with a veneer of politeness, and often ignoring previous posts on the subject and going "Hey, I'm just asking questions here.".

Not to put words in our admin's mouth, but I don't think he's quite saying you are sealioning, but more that you're veering in that direction.

The proposed OGL that was never implemented after they listened to feedback doesn't bother me. On the other hand I find the Cybertruck kind of offensive (because it's rolling death for anyone it hits) but I'll never tell anyone they were stupid to buy one, even if I think they are.

Meanwhile it's not like the post we're discussing really bothers me, I just don't think it was a good idea to word it the way they did. Especially because they did have some good points.

I think the OGL thing was only a big deal because a lot of people were ready to jump on WotC about something.

It was leaked and never actually enacted.

And more importantly, rules cannot be copyrighted so it didn't actually apply to a lot of the things people think it would apply to.

The Pinkertons thing is something I do think is serious but I don't hold D&D to it. I can see the ethics being attempted in the game design. Hasbro is a huge company and I'm just not willing to throw away my favourite game over it. It is a compromise of morals but we do that every day.

your decision, it bothers me a lot more than the KP blog post

The OGL has always been more of a gentlemen's agreement not to waste money on lawyers suing each other when nobody really knows what the courts would rule than anything.

The Pinkertons thing was a MtG thing and even the guy who talked it doesn't think it was a big deal. He mentioned it twice while doing his podcast opening MtG cards. I don't want to relitigate this, but it seems to be a mountain mad out of a (decent sized largely because of their preconceived notions, but definitely not mountain sized) molehill.

You do you, just don't tell me my opinion is not valid because I disagree.
I didn’t, people can have different takes, priorities, etc. The only time I would tell you that is if it is indeed not valid, as in not supported by facts.

If you told me the Earth is flat, I would dismiss that as not valid ;)

Someone contradicted themselves and I was just trying to clarify.
I never quite understand the animosity that is applied to so many things.
I'm sure i was in the wrong; I usually am.

Is that an idiom in the UK? I've never heard it before.
