I thought it was tacky and I haven’t bought the 2024 PHB or DMG.

On the flipside I have bought the WotC versions of the PHB and DMG and I don't think the article was problematic in any way.

I think reactions to the Kobold Press article are much more based on one's propensity to be offended than on one's support/hatred for WotC

It looks even worse when the person alleged to have written it disowns it and Kobold Press try to bury it.

That's a bit of a stretch - you can look at this review and think, "Oof. Not a great take." - Without being remotely offended by it. Or in other words - it's possible (easy even) to have a negative opinion of something without having an emotional response.

If you have a negative opinion of something then it is offensive to you, that's what the word means. You don't need to be angered, outraged, or have any emotional response to be offended.
