None of those are in the DMG, which means you're counting on people buying a product to learn how to DM to buy and/or search for other products rather than have one with examples.SCAG
Eberron
Theros
Dragonlance
Planescape
(not Spelljammer)
Ravenloft
And more.
There are plenty of example settings for new DMs to look at and pilfer ideas from. Note, though, that I don't have a problem with a sample setting being in the DMG, but not at the cost of things that are as important or more important than the sample setting, like the section on optional/alternate rules.
But everything in there is part of the building tutorial...?which is why everything had to be in here, even if it were not needed for the campaign building tutorial
I intentionally tried to leave that open for debate. Personally I would say ‘is’, the ‘were’ was a concession to youBut everything in there is part of the building tutorial...?
I wouldn't bother. It's only about 40 pounds as kobolds aren't that strong.Apparently my impressions about things I am not invested in at all are easily swayable. This makes me want to check out Kobold Press things now.
Or just opening a book in the store and leafing through it.None of those are in the DMG, which means you're counting on people buying a product to learn how to DM to buy and/or search for other products rather than have one with examples.
When a person buys a game their instinct is not to think "I gotta buy other stuff because this game isn't complete."
I think it was less to be a "Showcase" and more as a prep tool for newer DMs uncomfortable with full world building and also uncomfortable with the massive drywall of a Forgotten Realms or Golorian style Setting: homwbrew training wheels, as Gygax intended.I intentionally tried to leave that open for debate. It is part in that it is included in the tutorial, that never was the question. The question was whether it needed to be part of the tutorial or was just added to it so it can double as a GH showcase
to me the training wheels are to start with a small region rather than with a loosely described continent, and then gradually expand from there as the campaign progresses (and in directions dictated by the campaign)I think it was less to be a "Showcase" and more as a prep tool for newer DMs uncomfortable with full world building and also uncomfortable with the massive drywall of a Forgotten Realms or Golorian style Setting: homwbrew training wheels, as Gygax intended.
Who goes to game stores anymore?Or just opening a book in the store and leafing through it.
Do you have links that I can look at that re: how they treated their lead creative?me!
I have many of their books. They're close to a must purchase for me. I regularly promote their products.
What someone did to their lead creative is horrible treatment. An amount of rewriting that forces her to request a credit removal is dire.
The apology is good, but my sour taste may just push me towards different books, because when you rewrite a creator that much in public what are you doing to them in the actual books?
