SO eventually you get to the point where you need to answer those other questions... how does that work if the tutorial doesn't address it?
what other questions? If you know how to detail out one region, a continent is just more of the same

Shouldn't you show how those disparate regions connect, interact and affect each other... or would a good setting be walled off individual regions that don't take into consideration other parts of the setting?

the same way the towns in one region interact with each other. Apart from that you know how it works in / from all kinds of books, movies and TV series, you just have to come up with what that region is, the interaction with the others follows from there naturally

Why? Why not include the minimum necessary world to the DMG, as an example...?
again, I am not saying it may not be included, the question was what else they could possibly do if they want to teach worldbuilding, as if including all of GH is the only possible option

And I very much disagree with the ‘minimum necessary’ bit, I do not need all of GH as a minimum

So the answer is... see other sources and do research (which could be the answer for anything in the DMG). Sorry but telling the new DM to go find other sources for basic worldbuilding is not a good look for a corebook.

So again I'll ask... what was superfluous in the Greyhawk section of the DMG?

The thing is, ot provides an example the minimum needed for each stage of creating a Setting, micro to macro. It is enough thar a new DM can run a full campaign using just the Adventures and Setting materialis in there, or just making stuff new using it as a template. It is minimal, yet complete.
