D&D Monster Manual (2025)

D&D (2024) D&D Monster Manual (2025)

Or perhaps Gary was going through a thesaurus. In fact, I vaguely recall a quote from him to that effect.,
the Ranger certainly feels like it, it's all just different words for the same thing

And the Wizard titles can lay any claim to them being representative of mechanics to rest: Prestidigitator, Evoker, Conjurer, Theurgist, Thaumaturgist, Magician, Enchanter, Warlock, Sorcerer, Necromancer, and finally... Wizard

You know, I WANT to agree with you. But the fact you can't help but mock people who DO like D&D's current design makes the goodbye less of an "au reviour" and more a "don't let the door hit ya where the good lord split ya"
Mod Note:

Another example of “making it personal” getting reported today. Please, everyone, address the issues raised by positions, not with posters.

If you have a problem with a poster, report them and/or disengage from them.

I know I am jumping in late, but:
do we have a complete list of what 2024 full statblocks have been shared? I know the Ancient Green Dragon is out there, and I though I saw skeletons and kua toa in this thread maybe? Has anything else emerged recently?

The real question, relevant to such discussions, is whether folks will actually move on, or become like those people who have been through a bad breakup, and simply cannot stop badmouthing their exes.
You're not wrong, but it's hard when everyone around you keeps talking about your ex and how great their new outfit is.

"Moving on" probably means no longer hanging around your ex's apartment building, group chat, or birthday parties.

(To be clear - this is our D&D forum. It is the space we specifically set aside for discussion of current D&D. It is clearly labelled as such. If it is so hard for someone to hear about WotC and D&D, maybe the D&D forum is a really bad choice of place to hang out.)

It is also the home of Level Up, one of my favorite RPGs ever, and a discussion home for plenty of topics that don't rely on current WotC for their validity. It's also pretty much the only place where I get to talk about this stuff in depth, including real life.

I'm looking forward to see the 'bloodied' condition abilities. I think it was a great idea in 4e, so I'm thrilled that they brought it back.
Given that the Ancient Green Dragon does not have anything in its entry regarding getting bloodied, I am really curious what they are going to do with it. Is it a blanket rules ("When a creature is bloodied it automatically does X"0 or maybe it is per creature type ("When a dragon is bloodied, it Y") or something else? Maybe "bloodied" only applies to PCs?

It is inevitable that along with the bad ideas of the new 5e there will be good ideas.
I'm one of those that is not thrilled with the overall direction, but there will be things I will like - from the art to monster/PC abilities to spells to magical items to lore to modules.

At face value I'm not a fan of the male hag and dryad idea (have not seen the WotC vids) but I can see how I could make it work in an interesting backstory way to surprise my characters with a storyline twist, specifically with a male hag.
I would have likely not come up with that idea in my head had WotC not challenged me with their changes. Not that I have to use them, but it sparked my creativity.

Bad and good being subjective to us for what we like and not like. Everyone will obviously have a different list for bad and good.
