I'd agree, and have already agreed that they did Finn as a character wrong. But to ascribe racial motivations to that, when (a) he's not the only one they did wrong nor sidelined and (b) there have been no indications otherwise in Rian's actions that he has any racial motivations in his directing or production or presense in popular culture seems misguided and dangerous.And what did Disney do, what did Rian Johnson or JJ do? Lip service. Nothing more. Lip Service.
I'd go on an expletive lace rant here, but as I said, these forums are probably not the place for me to go on about these currently, and I'm not quite positive how to discuss it so that it doesn't become an enflamed series of posts...so...I guess the above will have to do.
I would have preferred Finn be used differently. I think it would have been better representation and more powerful if he'd had a different storyline. I think it's a shame that he didn't. But to call him a racist over that is a bridge to far for me.
