Have you ever seen the videos of certain CLEARLY naive city folk trying to pet “fluffy cows” or take a dip in the hot springs in Yellowstone, make friends with wild warthogs in Africa, feed wild bears in Russia, etc.?

Hell, when I was a kid, my own father was one of a bunch of people who fanned out across a roadside field, trying to get a photo of a MASSIVE elk. But he wised up when the elk alerted and started eyeballing the people closing in on him. He got his picture, returned to the car, and we drove off before anything else happened…

There’s definitely a too-large segment of city-dwellers (from all over the world) who are utterly clueless about how dangerous nature really is.

To be clear, I’m city folk. I understand a lot about animals, much less about dangerous plants. But I don’t know JACK about the dangers of terrain beyond the blatantly obvious.
I've been fortunate to not see that degree of idiocy but I saw something similar, on a visit to Washington State. I visited Mount Rainier, to take some shots. When I was at Paradise, I spotted a large fox near the bottom of the stairs that lead to the trail up the mountain. As I quietly started to switch from my landscape lens to my tele, pretty much all of the tourists spotted it as well. They all pulled out their phones and started to converge on the poor animal. I'm talking about upwards of a hundred gaping idiots. It was cornered against a rock and jumped clean over it, to get away. I never did get a shot of it.

Don't leave us hanging now. :)
I have absolutely no idea what happened there, because I know I typed it. Fixed now. Though I don't have a shot of the fox, I did take one of the stairs.

Right around the time the whole "Snek." thing got big on the internet, I had to restrain a mid-teenage girl from continuing to chase a snake while going, "Snek. Snek. Snek-snek-snek-snek." like she was going to get it to turn around and come lick her hand... She was chasing after a damn timber rattler.
In olden times, this was called natural selection...

Someone acting like that is how we got dogs and cats though, you gotta have some lunatics willing to risk it all to try to become friends with a predator. It was just the wrong predator in this case!

I mean, even herbivores - how nuts was whoever decided they were gonna "herd" aurochs? Good luck not getting gored, buddy!

That's pretty stupid. But honestly, this is teenagers since the dawn of time. Were you not one of those once?
