For a one-shot, or a campaign that’s expected to only run a few sessions? Sure, why not? Might be fun. I might even learn a thing or two.

For a full campaign, I’d want to play a character or concept that interests me enough to keep me invested for the long haul.

3 level short campaign.

Yeah it's a does anyone want to play this.

I have a lot of inexperienced players
That would be the caveat where I think pregen could work - inexperienced players or veteran players + new system. In those circumstances being able to jump straight into the game is no bad thing. That said in neither case would I start at level 12.

There would be loads of people I would think would want to do a continuation of BG3 in TTrPG. Why not assign a companion to each player and letter them create. Just don’t allow multi-class and they’ll come back with something manageable.

Well one guys played a few sessions level 1-4, a few others 1-9 and a new player parachuted in at 6 or 7.

Most have played BG3 though. BG4 with the cast may appeal.

Other 5E groups just hit 4 from lvl 1.

I mean, if the concept is "we're going to play a sequel to BG3, using the BG3 companions as our characters", for maybe 12-15 sessions max, then I would be in.

But I would expect the following.

1) The PCs can pick which character we want to play, in some sort of pre-game planning.

2) We collaborate with the DM as to how to build the character. I'm not a fan of playing the BG3 characters "to type", so I would want a bit of leeway to express my own concept of the character I choose.

3) I have some input into what items the characters has; at least one or two conversions of iconic BG3 items.

Im not as adverse to the idea of pre-generated characters as most posters here. I find I a creative and enjoyable RP exercise.

I wouldn’t want to be « directed » however; once the character is given to me , it ceases to be the DM’s creation and it becomes mine to play and interpret. For the same reason, I wouldn’t like to play an existing character, like any of the BG3 characters for example.

I’d be more timid about the level 12-15 thing, but with a good DM and a small group it could work for me.
