Fighting the Gray Tide (Miniature Painting)

In other miniatures news, my FLGS recently cleared their shelves of most WizKids miniatures, placing them in the 30% off section of the store. Part of the shelf space is now devoted to Reaper, which is nice, but last time I was there the entirety of the space hadn't been filled. I'm wondering if they expect more WizKids material to be released based on the art from the new 2024 D&D.

The store have an online presence or just local customers can take the 30% for them?
It's walk-in only. While they'll announce a sale online, you've got to walk in and see what's actually on the table. I was surprised to see so many WizKids models. But then it hasn't looked like they've been restocking for a few months now.

Well, it's not really a mini, but I just finished the Metal Earth model of the Millenium Falcon... Ye gods, those things take forever, lol. It has a tendency to tip over forward, so I packed the hollow base with greenstuff to give it some weight and stability.
I'm now on to the tie fighter model, and then the in-color Deadpool model, all as a thank-you for a buddy at work who's doing my car's brakes for me... The ships are for his son and Deadpool for his daughter.

My general sense is that we hit peak D&D miniature about 5 years ago. Since the pandemic, Wizkids and Reaper, the two main sources, have both seemed to be in gradual decline, and both are less represented at local hobby shops.

My store stopped carrying Reaper a few years before COVID even hit and only started stocking them again this past month. Reaper seems to be doing okay overall. They started a pilot program selling their miniatures under another brand name at various Michael's locations and plan on expanding into more locations.

I hope they are doing well - I really love their work, but their past few years have been rough, and now they are dealing with the tariff situation. I haven't heard any rumours about a Bones 7, and we probably won't until there is some kind of long term tariff solution worked out, as they are almost completely dependent on Chinese manufacturing. My other favoutire company in this hobby space, Dwarven Forge, is in similar straits.

Painting looks great and the sculpts are nice as well. The only thing that detract is the throne form or deformed rather with the front popping a wheelie. Is this a newer or older bones set of you don’t mind me asking. I was in for the first set way back when but the soft plastic wasn’t what I liked but the firmer gray/black lines have been better to me.
