Which Chips (or Fries) Are the Best?

Parboiling (5 or 6 minutes, tops... pat dry afterwards!) French fries or home fries before either frying or baking is a must in my book. Crispier exterior, softer/fluffier middle.

The freezing also helps make them fluffy...the ice crystals break down the plant cells a bit, and the exterior gets crispy before the inside starts to cook.

Edit: On preparation. Some of you really go all out. I've found the air fryer to be ideal for home-prepped fries. Ideally, seasoned with Aussie Chicken Salt.

On the subject of fast food fries; Mrs. Shiverstone prefers Mickey D's while I prefer The Five Gentlemen.

I haven't had air fried fries, but Kettle Chips does some potato chips finished that way, and they're pretty good.

Not "real" fries as they're not deep fried, but speaking of recipes, I really like these ones for making at home. They get beautifully crisp.

I guess you didn't check where I was from... Chip truck or fish & chips style fries are pretty much the same category. Given the categories offered in the OP, homestyle seems like the best fit.

I will die on this hill. They aren't remotely the same thing. For a start, given the pictures he posted, those aren't even deep fried. That's like the one thing all fries should have in common. Those are roasted potatoes. Also good, but definitely not fries
