Witcher change up?

First teaser of The Switcher is up.

The monster looks good and I like the action. I am not a player of the video games or reader of the novels, so I would be happy with nothing but standalone monster hunting episodes. Maybe I just want a Conan show ...
Ooh! Standalone monster hunting episodes in the world of The Witcher -- sign me up!

Granted, I don't think there's any way Netflix would do that.

After last season I’m less concerned about the switch. Felt like the show has gone down hill.
Sadly (for me), I'll agree with that. I think it did go off the rails last season. Lost the stakes for some reason and the sense of forward momentum.

So I guess change is good in this case because why not?

Yeah, I didn't even finish the last season... I just remembered that I'd gotten bored. I think for all that Cavill has experienced since then, no matter what, it was a good choice to jump when he did.

I've only watched the first season. You guys are making it sound like I made the right decision not to bother watching the rest.
Second season was pretty good, IMO, though I think there are mixed feelings on it. Season 3 started Netflix's pattern of splitting into two halves. Finished first half and it was OK. From what I heard, Geralt was hardly in the second half, but I never started it.

Many cool things in series 3 that still make it worth watching. The Thanned Coup in particular. Seeing Tissaia cast Alzur’s Thunderbolt was pretty boss.

I don’t get the criticism of Geralt not getting enough screen time. The story has always been Ciri’s as well. Books and games.

Looking forward to series 4 in a few weeks.
