yes, Megamek is pretty great at doing straight battles. I haven’t tried it for anything else. I use roll20 when I want to run story heavy BattleTech campaigns as a GM. Then I can throw surprises and story beats at my players (suddenly, there were air strikes! Or reinforcements are here, or Elementals suddenly jump out of the trees… that kind of thing).

The dice gods, they can be unkind sometimes... (or kind, if you're the opposing player).
With shots like that, the side table changes don't make much of a difference do they?

It got even worse, my fafnir took a floating crit from a single missile, gauss exploded, pilot uncouncious, first round of match ….D!oh And ouch. Well, at least that's only the first sortie of the day...
