I know this won’t be popular, but we don’t need another pure martial.

I think we need one more Wisdom and one more Intelligence caster, but in weird ways.

Right now we have:
4 Martials
3 Wisdom Casters
4 Charisma Casters
3 Intelligence Casters

We have the “full” classes for each, along with a “half” and a “weird” for Martial and Charisma.

Fighter and Barbarian are Full Martial. They get Extra Attack and Weapon Mastery. Monk is the Half Martial that gets Extra Attack but not Weapon Mastery, and Rogue is the Weird Martial that doesn’t get extra attack but has a unique mechanic to add to damage.

Bard and Sorcerer are the Full Charisma Casters, with the Paladin Half Caster and the Warlock Weird Caster.

Now, both Wisdom and Intelligence have two full and one half class each.

Intelligence Full are Wizard and Psion, with Artificer being a Half. Cleric and Druid are Full Wisdom and Ranger is half.

So we need a “Weird”
caster for Wisdom and for Intelligence.

So I propose we do a Runesmith and a Magus.

Runesmith is a Weird Wisdom Caster that has spell slots, but instead of learning spells they learn Runes, with the slots being spent to fuel the Runes, which each have effects based on the level of slot used to power them.

Magus is a Weird Intelligence Caster that fills the Sword Mage niche but isn’t just a carbon copy of a E-Knight or a Bladesinger. (Idk how this works, I’m not a designer).

Anyway that’s what I want to see.

What possible thing could a non magical knight do that doesn’t also fit the warlord?
Knight - heavy armour, chivalric code (in different variants), mounted proficiency, ability to defend others (some sort of one-person shield wall maybe), high consistent damage (as in, best of all classes) - a tank with real serious teeth.

Not a Warlord - no healing of any kind, no baked-in leadership qualities, no taunting.
Yeah I wish we could see an Int based mystical assassin and a monk-based gish.
Assassin sounds good too but please, make it a full non-caster.

To balance that out it would seem there should be 4 Strength martials, 3 Dexterity martials, and 3 Constitution martials, or something like that.

10 casters vs 4 martials - no wonder martials keep getting the short end of the design stick.
