No. If what you’re talking about is also the Iron GM that used to be done at GenCon, my past research into the matter indicates that was started in 2004 and had a different structure (it used 3 ingredients and then the contestants would actually run the adventures produced). Although I can’t say for sure, I’ve always assumed the concept came about entirely independantly. After all, Iron Chef was quite popular for a while there.I am confused. Is this the same Iron GM tournament that was at the LA gaming conventions in the early 2010's? The Strategicon events: Orccon, Gamex, Gateway?
I was a player for one of those events, and my two buddies and I still feel guilty about being too tipsy and suggesting he use AD&D. (The rules stated the players chose.) He seemed so well prepared: Dwarven Forge, great minis, cool ideas. But AD&D didn't really fit with what he was going for. On top of that, he was a soft talker, and the hall was so loud, we couldn't hear a word he said.
If he ever reads this - we're sorry.
(Also, I believe the ingredients that year were he had to use a coatyl. Also, maybe lava?)
I panicked when I wrote my notes out, and their word count was 750. So I took a nice long break, and probably had the same rush you did. Anyway, I have a bad feeling I'll be dreaming about ornithopters and sacks of coffee. The latter is not out of the ordinary.Whew! That's done. Started slow but it all came togther in a rush this morning.
I’m taking notes, but real life stuff going to keep interrupting. Probably won’t be the first one, this time.I want to be judged! Moare judging!!1!Seriously, in your own good time. I'm just an enthusiast.
