D&D General Would a feat be right for the ability to cast/use scrolls? (Nevermind)

heh, I still forget that ranged attacks do not provoke AoO in 5E.
They should, but that is another topic.

maybe if you want to, you can bake it in with ritual caster feat so all scrolls can be activated with 100% success.

I use older edition rules - to use a scroll, the spell has to be on your spell list.

Only exception are protection scrolls, which can be used by anyone.

I believe you still have to have it on your class spell list to use a spell scroll. There are magic scrolls that don't involve spells.

Phb, p. 228 :
"If the spell is on your class's spell list, you can read the scroll and cast the spell using its normal casting time and without providing any Material components."

Dmg p. 305 :
" If the spell is on your spell list, you can read the scroll and cast its spell without Material components. Otherwise, the scroll is unintelligible."

Okay, Thats what I remember. Apparently I'm losing my mind and all credibility.

In my defense, however...this section can be misleading. I assume the intent is to say language is not a barrier to casting a scroll spell thats on your list...but it reads as anyone who has language can do it. DMG pg 216. (and the caveat is that "its description says otherwise" in the magic item section.
