I would like them to actually expand the Greyhawk material.
That would warm the cockles of my heart. But, the realistic side of me thinks that there just isn't a whole lot of meat on that bone anymore. Forgotten Realms has picked that carcass pretty clean. And, I get the sense that there is some resistance among Greyhawk fans to adding newer material - things like Tieflings and Dragonborn and whatnot. I mean, looking at the material in the DMG, while it's great, it does show a decidedly ... conservative approach to the setting.

The e24 DMs Guide presents an originalist version of Greyhawk as an homage to Gygax and makes room for "Arn" Arneson, for the 50th anniversary of D&D.

So new school species are minimally mentioned: Goliath, Dragonborn, and Tiefling. But this is about celebrating old school, not a resistance to new school.

After the anniversary, future local settings to populate Flanaess can go into more detail about the new school species. Greyhawk is and has always been a kitchen sink setting intended for new creative content.

But this is about celebrating old school, not a resistance to new school.
We'll have to wait and see. 5e has never really embraced anything new school, at least not very much. Endless recycling or re imagining adventures, recycling classes and whatnot. Recycling settings. WotC has not exactly embraced anything new, and understandably so. We are getting the D&D that fans demanded. The fandom has shown absolutely no interest in anything other than very well trodden paths.

I agree that fans drive the D&D products. Fans like Tiefling and Dragonborn, and I expect Goliath to do well. These fit well within Greyhawk themes and locales.

Tiefling popularity is pure shameless CharOp a race with a free cantrip resistance to one of the more common energy types and a bonus to the attribute used by the 3-4 most mix-n-match multiplicative multiclass CharOp bingo classes.

5e is weaker for spending years pretending that the thin veneer of lore is the real draw while totally ignoring the endless match of spreadsheet builds

I don’t know how to answer this. A bunch of these options make me think “Do you prefer blue, round, or sweet?” And there are a bunch I wouldn’t prefer but have zero objection to and would likely use happily if I like the details.
