D&D General Any sites to create a 2024 Artificer (EFA) Online for Free?

Many non-artificer characters can't be made with only SRD content either. While all twelve core classes are present, only one subclass is included for each; and likewise, there aren't that many feats -- although at least there's more than the one feat that was included in the 2014 version.

It used to be cheaper to use D&D Beyond for this sort of thing, as once upon a time it supported buying individual classes rather than entire books. That option is long gone.

Yeah, I understand that this is because it was worse of a revenue issue than selling PDF versions of the books were in 3E and 4E. If people only buy the books piecemeal for the parts they want, they're essentially selling the big selling points of those books for a fraction of the cost, and that's really hard to pinpoint a precise value onto and get it right the first time (which they had to, lest people complain about price gouging). The solutions here are there's a subscription level for DMs that let them share their membership and purchases to some extent with their players, and also now buying the books on D&D Beyond is a steep discount from their physical version (as is buying Digital+Physical through DDB, but I still end up buying both separately to support my FLGS and get that sweet sweet alt-cover).

To be fair...at no poont are you ever paying $20 just to make a character of any kind.

And i dont use it to play, and a few ywars ago no one did because it had no vtt option for years. The builder has flaws but it is good enough that i make all my charabcters with it and reference them digitally while playing at the physical table.
Yeah, even though I love my books the app is good ENOUGh that it's nigh essential at my tables these days.

Yes, thankfully my Son's teacher / DM for his club shared the app with his club (campaign) and he had licenses for most content. Just not the new Artificer in EFA. In the end they did not use DNDBeyond because it would not work on the Chromebooks at school (security / network issues) and not enough kids had phones that could utilize it. So they are getting a somewhat slow start (and 16 kids with one teacher is difficult so that is why I am trying to help my kids learn outside of the club).

Good to know. Thanks.

Please know that there are plenty of folks here on EN World who would happily help check math and other things should you need assistance in the future. :)

I went to a college reunion this past summer where they hosted us overnight on campus, and the campus security protocols I had to jump through just to connect to the internet to make a business teams meeting was nightmarish.

The functionality of D&D Beyond is directly correlated to the functionality of internet access (whether via WiFi, Cellular, or otherwise).

Thank you.

I have only been back at DND for the past few weeks but have been cramming as much as I can into my head. I have been playing around with my other son's build (the Warlock) more since I can set everything up on DNDBeyond and test the impact of various Feats, weapon masteries, etc...

The website DPRCalc has been really helpful to understand what attack and damage bonuses should apply in various situations.

Chatgpt can do a check of maths, you just need to double check its following the rulebook
Thanks. Yes, good idea - I have not done that exactly. It is little things like Spell modifiers, passive perception, etc... that I want to be sure I did not calculate wrong.

I did use Chat GPT to calculate damage numbers for a while but found it was making too many mistakes (often using 2014 tules instead of 2024). On another occasion I used it to help simulate some battles -- initially with my kids to help them understand how combat runs and then later to test different weapon configurations, etc... In those cases it did pretty well (although I noticed some errors but just glossed over them).

It seems like a very complicated way of going about things. If you can't do basic arithmetic then a pocket calculator can do it much more reliably than an LLM, for a tiny fraction of the energy consumption.
