Shadowdark Shadowdark: Cursed Scroll #5

I'm loving the Delver class, but I'd love to use "Trusty Gear" for something other than a weapon, and +1 doesn't seem like an attractive enough bonus for that.

What would y'all think about tweaking it to: "1 + half your level to attacks if it's a weapon, or Advantage when using a non-weapon" (or something like that)?

Thanks for starting this thread. I was going to but I have not had a chance to read through CS #5 yet.

My comment from the other thread.

Like the classes, like the spells, Dismember is pretty grim lol, and looking over the Library, looks really cool. The tone is dark, and I'm really wondering how much the Chittering is going to get people, but it is a high level zone.

The Shadowdark doesnt mess around.

I think CS 4 is still my favourite, and I cannot wait to get the chance to play it still, but looking forward to digging into this one over the next few days.

Its already gear or weapon?

It would be fun to choose something like rope, iron spike, torch, etc. and always get advantage on related checks. But for +1 I think I'd always pick a weapon.

Also I wonder if Scavanger applies to potions:

If so then it's possible (if not exactly likely) that could end up with infinite potions:

For a human, you'd need to roll 10-12 on 4 out of 6 Talents, which is 1/115. (Or greater, if your GM allows you to use Luck tokens to re-roll talents.)

Let me parse this a little - Choose one type of gear ...you gain 1+half your level on checks ... with that type of gear. It works just fine on non-combat gear for non-combat checks.

As a general rule, I prefer to go with advantage rather than counting bonuses. I think this might be the only time in Shadowdark where we get a numerical bonus to a non-combat roll. So I think switching it to advantage is fine.

I am looking forward to using the delver and the expanded equipment list in a megadungeon game some time.
